Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

It's at the Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing in Old Washington, Arkansas -- (8 miles north of Hope, Arkansas). It's co-sponsored by the American Bladesmith Society and Texarkana College.

The next Hammer-In is this coming weekend -- Oct. 28, 29. You don't have to be a member of the ABS, and you don't have to forge blades. The classes cover things of interest for all knifemakers, whether they forge blades or use stock removal.

See you there Bruce.

For any interested here is the line up:

Mike Bell (clay hardening)

Don Fogg (planing & finishing a sword blade)

Kevin Cashen (Fitting odd shape guards)

Mike Connor (handles, design and finishing)

Jim Crowell (Basic forging)

Jim Batson (making traditional tomahawks)

Joe Flournoy (soldering)

Charlie Ochs (Damscus patterns)

Greg Neeley, Jerry Fisk, Mike Williams (cutting competition)
*** OPEN CLASS, anything with a thong hole and at least 1 visible pin through handle/tang***

Greg Neeley, BR Hughes, Mike Williams (criteria for JS & MS judging)

Chuck Ward (photo)

Kenny Rowe (sheaths)

This is a great line up, i dont think this much talent has been at one place for the purpose of teaching the craft. In typing this post i have convinced myself that i will be there, even if i must walk barefoot through a briar thicket to get there.

Thanks for the info!!! Sounds like it's gonna be a great learning experience!!!

Some of the ones from Oklahoma that will be there are: Troy Brown, David Darby, Claude Fields, Ray Kirk, and one more from Muskogee that I can't remember the name of. I also talked to Newt Livesay and there is a good cheance he will be there also. It should be one heck of a week-end for learning.
If possible, this should be the one to make. They are all good. Bring money for the auction on Sat. evening after the fish fry. All proceeds go to TOMB which helps out the school and scholarships for knifemakers starting out.
See you all there.
