So, I know it can be hard to say, but fall and winter are around the corner. What are you guys doing to prepare or modify your bush/field gear? Do you prefer to modify the locations of your adventures or mod your gear. Personally my back yard is just as fun in the rain and snow as in the summer so I change my gear. Some things are:

- more food
- more fire starter
- rain gear
- natural fiber clothes, i.e. wool

So what do you out there do? Or is the changing of seasons not very dramatic?

The change in seasons allows me to do much more outside then the summer. I go different places, and try more gear out. With the temps cooling, the mosquitoes aren't as bad. Hunting season also opened, which is fantastic ;)

I'm originally from the northwest, so it's always been a significant change. Down here in GA, the weather cools enough to enjoy the outdoors a little more and I'll often increase my blade size and often add an axe; although I use machetes more during the summer on all the green foliage, I can now use heavy blades/axes on more substantial wood/vines. I also get to pull out some of the wool clothing for more effective use.

My shorts and convertible pants are traded out for more traditional full-length pants (Railriders, etc.). I think fall is my favorite season...;)

Wanting a wool anorak or something big enough to layer under it and I need a good pair of gloves. Also need to start looking pants and get away from jeans.

Couldn't be more excited about it. Less bugs, poison ivy dying off, and a great energy in the air in the windy fall days.

I swapped out my spare socks for a thicker pair, and re-treated my boots. That's about it for seasonal changes, but I am going through my stuff trying to trim a little weight.

I give thanks! Less people and bugs to deal with.

Plus I get to wear my wool for the next 2 1/2 seasons or more ( I really like wool)

If I'm going on a multiday trip I may include a sleeping bag. That is about the only change. The rest of my kit is stuff I usualy take along anyway. I will in winter include more fats in my diet and increase my food load by 15% or so. unless I'm breaking snow then I'll increase it way more.

I use natural fiber clothes in the summertime anyway. The sweaters I pack in the summer are the same I wear in the winter. I have a Helly Hansen Odin Full Neck baselayer that will come along, and may or may not bring thicker socks, but for the most part what I wear in the high desert in the summer is very close to what I wear in the winter.
