Next wednesday, a fallen soldier will receive a Bronze Star Medal. Leading a combat group in Maruf Valley in Afghanistan, he was chasing a taliban group when he was shot. Thanks to him, 3 bad boys were killed and ten arrested.

His family will receive medal from US General Francis Kearney, SPec Ops Commandant, in US Embassy in Paris.

Soldier's name was Loïc Le Page. He was Commando Marine, member of French Special Forces. He was a french man.

He is one of the ten French Special Forces' operator killed in Afghanistan since 2003.

I would certainly like to express my thanks for the sacrifice made by this soldier. It is very heartening to hear as well that there are still brave men in France as noted here.

It is nice to read a good word about the French after all of the flak that they usually receive in these Forums. Thank you, Frederic K.

I agree it is nice to see some of the French support us. My prayers go out to his family.

May he rest in peace.
Thank you for posting that, too many people forget that there are others fighting the good fight.

Good story and I thank him for his service to his Country (France).
He deserves that medal

We may not hear much about them, but France, and other allies, have sent their best.
