Does anyone know if the Fallkniven U2 has steel/metal liners like the Delica 4 or is it all plastic?

All plastic and no liners, unless they are buried in the plastic - which I really doubt.

Its still an excellent little folder, and worth consideration. There is a good youtube review of the U2 by "cutlerylover".

I just got one a few weeks ago,and it doesn't have a liner. The handle is made of FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) or something similar. Great little edc knife!

i like the looks of it too and i may get one. is the handle 'stiff enough' without the metal liners?

Yea the handle is solid for plastic. Amazing EDC, small, sharp as hell, sheeple friendly...Perfect EDC IMO. Im going to get a Tre Kroner next.

Sorry for the horrible pic...its off my black berry.

I've taken mine apart and there is definitely no liner. That's why you get a lower priced knife with a super steel blade .That SGPS steel is really amazing and demonstrates what can be done with powder steels.

Definately a great little knife, well worth having one.

Just to clarify, the handle material is Zytel.

I just opened my U2 and was unable to get the handle to flex by twisting it. It is plenty strong. Steel liners would only add weight.

Great, VERY SHARP little knife. I've got one and an F1 from Fallkniven. No liners but very strong with no blade play. Also, for further clarification, IIRC, Zytel is DuPont's branded name for FRN.
The only thing I don't really like about it is that ti's so smooth with very little to prevent your hand from sliding up the handle to the blade if it's wet.

Here are a couple shots with several Benchmade Mini Griptilians and Spyderco Delicas (among other knives) for size comparison.

Very nice collection NaturalMystic

I believe your statement regarding FRN is essentially true. If my understanding is correct, Zytel is actually Dupont's trade name for various grades of Nylon Polymer. It is often reinforced with fiberglass strands, and this is common for materials used for knife handles/scales, which would in fact make it FRN. However it can also be reinforced with other fibres such as Kevlar, which I guess would then make it KRN.

As a very general comment, Dupont Zytel reinforced with fiberglass is considered to rank among the highest quality FRN's. There are many FRN products that are not considered to be great quality. (many coming from off shore)

I have absolutely no idea what Fallknivens Zytel is reinforced with, but chances are it is likely FRN, but since their site specifies the material as Zytel they are indicating it is indeed a high quality product.

So for future reference, when sourcing a knife, if the manufacture truthfully identifies the material as Zytel, it is likely high quality material. On the other hand if the description identifies the material as FRN it may be of inferior quality.

EDIT: Fallkniven recently updated with a new website. Interestingly the handle material for the U2 is still identified as "strong composite material" in the product description. The specs, where Zytel was specified, are currently not listed.

Zytel is nice. In fact regular frn is nice if its done right (the clb design bokers are an excellent example). it is not as nice as g10, but for the reduced price I think its great and I definately prefer it to stainless handles in most cases.
