hi, just wondering your opinions which is better camp/survial knife as far as workhorse of a knife, durability? i know the fallkniven is stainless so less maintenance. also i'm not use to carbon steel such as ranger rd-7. but then again i take pretty good care of my knives and guns. just like to hear your opinions. thanks!

I think that the stainless steels used in knives nowdays are so good that all you have to worry about is what style and size you prefer. I don't think a stainless knife such as a Fallkniven , Entrek , Benchmade etc will ever fail you !
I still have the most faith in a good high Carbon steel blade but I think that may just be because I am a little old fashioned in my thinking !!!

Both are excellent knives. It really comes down to preference. The Ranger is heavier than the A1, but I prefer the Micarta handles it has.

My vote goes to the Fallkniven, although I'd go more for the S1 which is what I bought and I too was strongly considering a ranger. I think the Ranger blade designs do not lend well to smaller more precision type work, now that isn't to say you couldn't bring a smaller folder for building traps and skinning and what not, but stand alone knife vs knife I would pick a smaller fallkniven every time, but that's just my preference. Im really not keen on the blade design of the RD series.
