i just got my new fallkniven A1 with kydex sheath and oh my god what a knife! I will have no problems trusting my life to this knife its an absolute beast. Ive only just opened the box i havent had chance to try it out yet but the thing is built like a tank. the convex balde edge and the whole tip design looks so amazingly strong yet appears to have an excellent piercing ability. nice grip feature to stop hands sliding onto the blade. beautiful knife. simply beautiful. if not for the salt water, i would choose this knife for fighting the shark off < reference to other thread!> shark skin can be as tough as it likes its not as tough as 1/4 inch of VG-10!

Use it (hard)! You will be impressed!
After the A1, I have not even thought about any other knife in this price and size category.

im already very very impressed i think any other knife for this amount of money or even a fair amount more would struggle to match this amazing blade. I took a medium swing at a 2x4 to test it and the blade went straight into it over an inch!

the point design is a stroke of genius, its piercing capabilities are high die to the sharp point but the convex grind means that a few mm back from the tip the blade is very thick again, little chance of the tip snapping off here i think.

another point though... the blade shape, dont you think it looks like a minnow? my girlfriend keeps white cloud mountain minnows and the females are a very similar shape to this blade!

amazing knife... if you have £100 spare and dont know what to get then get this. its my new best friend....

i cant believe you can buy this knife for $113 over there in USA...the cheapest I could get it over here from our online place was 112 pounds thats roughly 160 US dollars!!!, some place wanted 100 pounds for it with the leather rather than kydex sheath! talk about rip off britain. I think this knife was worth it but i will curtail my knife buying habbits until i can get to another country i think... a boker ceramic Ti from one of our online sellers would set me back 99 pounds (140 USD) here in england while across in germany it would set me back 99 euros (roughly 90 USD)!!

I bought an F1, then went and got the whole set. My favorite right now is the H1, which I really like. I zero bevelled the edge with a very slight convex - so basically it's a heavy duty Scandinavian grind. It'll easily slice cigarette paper and keeps the edge.
They're wonderful knives, and if you like high performance edges then that's certainly possible too: they don't have to fit the "sharpened prybar" category, despite their strength.

I'm trading myself a slightly-used A1 with the Kydex (or Concealex?) sheath, it should reach me on monday! :D

Great deal too. Not only the kind where everyone's happy. In this case, the original owner of the A1 and I have so differing interests that neither one feels like we're giving away anything. Both just get free knives - LOL!

you will love the knife as a son when you get it. take a plank of wood and hack into the edge of it, wrench around a bit and then gaze in awe at the blade looking exactly as it did before! shiny and smooth....so nice to stroke my cats fallen out with me!

BTW. Just to make you cry a little, they should be releasing the 8" bladed A2 soon.

i saw the A2 on the fallkniven web site, but i decided on the A1 for 2 reasons

1) its VG-10 sandwiched between 440 and i read someone on the survival forum that the 440 can scratch easily andlook a mess on a laminated knife.

2) with the extortionate proces here in england i wouldnt have been able to afford the A2 even if anyone had been importing it!

I just hacked most of the end off of a 3 inch square fence post and the A1 still slices through paper!

I wish the made the F1 in a folder with a good strong lock back locking mechanism... that would be my kind of pocket knife. a rival for the kershaw folding deerhunter, possibly superior...
