I just looked over the Fallkniven site at these three knives. I ran the US measurements from the grams/millimeters used on the site (when are we ever going to move into the real world with measurements!). It appears the A1 has a 6.3 inch blade with a full tang of almost 1/4 inch stock. The other knives also have tangs made of thick stock. Has anyone handled these knives and if so, are they handle heavy? It would seem the point of balance to be nearer the handle than just in front of it! What have you found about "balance" with these three knives?

I have an S1 and an F1. They are nicely balanced toward the blade. Neither handle heavy. The handle material adds little to the weight. The S1 is surprizingly light.

The blade depth adds a lot to the forward balance. The depth of the tang through the handle can be seen because it protrudes. This may be difficult to see from the sites but if you compare the blade and habdle it will be clear.

I once had a Japanese martial artist handle the F1 and he was very pleased with the balance. He also could detect the difference in balace between the satin blade and the Teflon coated model. It was about 2mm more forward due to the weight of the Teflon.

I was just handling my A1 last night and found that the balance point is almost exactly where the front of the handle meets the blade. Feels great to me!

On the S1 the centre of mass is about 10 mm to the rear of the point where the handle meets the blade, on my (old version) F1, the point is about 28 mm to the rear, into the handle, from the point where the handle meets the blade.

I have the A-1, S-1, and F-1. They are excellent in every way, execpt for the crummy cordura sheaths.
