It seems that every time I ask for a knife comparison, I am told that the knives are too different to compare. These knives are similar in size and steel used. I would like to hear the pros and cons of each. Which is better, in your opinion, and why.

I don't know about the F-1 but I got my Spyderco Moran Monday. It's a decent design but a little small for my big paws and I dislike the lack of a guard. I also prefer my knives to be heavier than this. Its fairly sharp right out of the box, but as I don't plan to keep it I can't tell you how it will hold an edge. The knife does look good though and is well made with a nice finish. The Kydex sheath that came with it seems to be very well thought out, with several carry options and an excellent fit to the knife. I think it would work well as a neck knife sheath too, although the handle of the Moran is a bit thick for that.

Jake, do you have the version w/ the Kydex sheath? I was looking for one and was wondering if you were really looking to get rid of it. Let me know if you're looking to ditch it soon or are going to let it sit around for a few more months. Thanks.

You're correct in pointing out some of the similarities, but I prefer the Fallkniven over the Moran unless you compare sheaths also. The Moran, I feel, has a better sheath (I haven't seen the Fallkniven Kydex yet). I now have the Moran in my left hand and the F1 in my right: F1 has a heftier blade and a more substantial/comfortable grip. But I wouldn't throw either out of bed.
