I have been reading alot of good review's on the F1 lately. I like the look's of this knife ,but I have never seen or handled one. I do however own two Carbon V Master Hunter's. My question is how do the MH & F1 stack up along side each other size wise, edge holding ability, touch up ect. are the F-1's that much better then the Master hunter to warrent spending $80 to $100 for another knife that looks very much like the ones I all ready own. How about reply's from you Guy's or Gal's that have actually owned or used both knives OTHER WISE OPINION'S DON'T COUNT

Owned and used both...I like the F-1 for its light weight and smaller size...it makes a fantastic companion knife for a larger utility/ chopper. I think the master hunter is an all around "the only knife I need on me today" kind of knife...a little beefier and larger than the F-1, I think the Master hunter is a good all around knife for bushcraft, and priced pretty good, if you can find them.

I forgot to add, I also own the A-1 from fallkniven, I find I reach for the F-1 more often because of its awesome size...you can throw it in your pocket and go...I love the F-1.
I did chop up a chicken for dinner tonight, with my A-1..right through thebone and meat without any problems...I was gonna take pics, alas, the Batteries were dead..Just so you know how we're making the chicken...3-4 lb chicken , rub down with salt and pepper, 2 tbspn of olive oil, Sear the chicken in a frying pan on both sides. Chop chicken in 8 parts, put 40 cloves of garlic on bottum of a large baking dish, with 1/2 cup of olive oil, put chicken on top, and bake for 1-1/2 hour at 350 degrees...Garlic Chicken...I know it sounds like a lot of garlic...trust me...this dish well blow you away, Its the best! (I know that somebodies gonna do the "I bet your breath will bloow you away") Trust the recipe..Serve with mashed potatoes and veggie of your choice (I'm a green bean guy).

gunknifenut- I too am curious about Mike's post because I love my Master Hunter and I bought a fallkniven years ago but forget which one. The handle seemed a good bit smaller in diameter on the fallkniven, would you say that is accurate?

Yes, the F-1 is smaller allaround...I think they are both good knives. I really love my F-1 as a cool little knife you can carry in your pack as a back up...alot of guys say that you should carry only what you need, I have been on alot of long distance hikes..I never was without an extra blade. If push came to shove, the F-1 is all you really need, but I think of it as a great back up to a 4-6 inch blade.

I have both. The F1 is a little easier to carry, particularly in the Concealex sheath Normark made for it -- a perfect match  -- it's one very tough blade, and the VG-10 holds an edge as well as Carbon V, but takes a little longer to sharpen. The Master Hunter in Carbon V is a classic and a better choice if you're field dressing big game, due to the larger handle and bigger blade. Either would do fine; six of one, half dozen of the other...

I echo everything that Alberta Ed said. The thinner handle profile of the F1 does make it easier to carry, especially if you're not carrying it on your belt (in a pack or pocket). I think I can get the Master Hunter sharper, and I think it holds an edge a little better than the F1, but not much. Both knives are rock solid performers, BUT, I always gravitate towards the Master Hunter. I just like to feel of the knife in my hand, and I like how it works. It is one of my favorites and most used. A lot of other blades, Marttiinis, Moras, Marble's, and others that don't start with 'M', get passed over because I am so keen on the Master Hunter. I used the F1 for the summer when i got it, and rarely since. IDon't get me wrong, I really like the F1. Just not as much as my MH.

You, know for a while I couldn't get the MH very sharp and was kinda turned off by it, But I thinned out the edge, and I love the thing now. I dont own an F1, but as I like carbon steel more, the MH was the winner hands down.

Oh, btw the MH is a work horse. ;)

I like the size and design of the F1 and came very close to getting one. I can't get over the idea of a piece of VG-10 sandwiched between two pieces of 420J2 though. If they made a carbon steel version I'd get one.

If you had not posted here Fonly I was going to foward this quote to you...

"I think I can get the Master Hunter sharper, and I think it holds an edge a little better than the F1, but not much."

But you responded after he put it ! That is what suprised me when you said in a previous post that yours didn't hold an edge very well as most people say the opposite !!!!

I have owned a CS MH for about 9 year. It is a great blade. The steel, handle and sheath are a tight package. I brought it on a camping trip to Hawaii and it performed really well.

That said, I tend not to carry it much. I love the knife but it is in an awkward size range. Too big for a combo woods set and too small for an only knife. It is also too big for concealed urban carry. So it basically stays in the draw.

For hiking, I prefer a small blade, no bigger than 3 1/2", and a large Chopper. In an urban setting, I like a small FB no bigger than 3 1/2" and a folder.

The CS MH stands just outside of my range. Of course, my post is personal preference and others might say something else and be just as valid. Carry options should be tailor made to your specs not someone elses.

Thank you all for the fair and honest reply's to my post IT seems safe to say that either knife will serve its owner well for many year's Fonly, hikeeba, nice review's and Pic's. Gunknifenut, great review awsom recipe I think we should post it under survival food. I read some where that eating garlic help's keep biting insects away I tried your recipe and liked it should guarantee a twenty foot no fly zone for mosquito's and other pests haha

I think I know what your saying, and yes I had alot of problems getting it sharp. But like I said after I thinned the edge some, which wasn't long ago, I made it much more efficent, though it still doesnt hold it long.

I think doc canada was having the same problems.
