The swedish survival knife fallkniven f1 is a beautiful and functional knife and so I just did a youtube review on it in HD quality

Since I've used it and since I'll be doing a week long boat survival trip on the swedish lakes this summer I'm really excited about this knife and taking it with me on some more trips. I'm finding out if I can take it to Scotland (laws) since I'll be doing the west highland trail there starting end of may

It's a 2 part series with some beautiful sun lighted shots, talks about usage and it's history, some specifications, a little side by side with a rat cutlery and me cutting up a block of wood with it; it stays very sharp!

There is a table of contents in the info panel of the youtube video so you can check out what's in there.

I'd love to hear your feedback on the vids and please rate the vids!

part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdTlIOGPYnI

enjoy them

zyhano, could you possibly post a summary of your review in this thread?

I haven't looked to see how long the videos are, but at least some of us would rather read
a written review - which can be scanned quickly - and then perhaps follow up with watching the videos.

The F1 is highly regarded here on BF, as is the ESEE (fka RAT Cutlery).

My time is limited too. It takes me enough time as it is to post some of these videos. The summary is in the info panel next to the youtube review.

It's one click away...

Good job on the videos!

One thing you showed which I wasn't sure of with the F1 is the extended tang. That concern is one of the issues which led me to purchase a different knife due to durability concerns about the handle.

My RC4 cuts much much better once I convexed the edge.

The Fallknivens are very very good knives and have earned themselves a well deserved reputation. Personaly I would rather have the F1 with its convex grind than any of the bushcraft blades sporting a scandi grind. Just my preference.

gotta be honest, i really prefer a written review to a video one.

short videos (30 seconds or so) are useful to demonstrate various things within the review, but at 9min long for part 1 alone, it's too much.

thanks wildmike. I'm not sure how to interpret your remark: are your questions about the extended tang solved or not?

that's your preference, no point arguing there. To each his own.
Until the time someone writes a new review about the f1, you could watch my video though :p

Yes my questions about the extended tang were answered.

Since I watched the review I traded a knife I wasn't using for an F1. Looking forward to giving it a tryout.

This was one of the videos on youtube that convinced me to get this knife. Can't wait for it to arrive!

cool mike, let me know how it turned out. my take on it: you won't be dissapointed

A written review is often more useful here on this site
cool, use the search to find a written review here

Nice, I'd love to hear from you too how it turns out! thanks

for all you guys that like to read, I found a great review for you. the most recent fallkniven f1 review that was actually made before my review was in the year 2000.
so here it is: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89383

btw, it also has no pictures. so you can read only, no distraction by visuals

and please stop complaining now :)

Good review video!
I haven't got around yet to make a video review of my F1, and yours is perfect so why should I bother?

Thanks for doing the vid and thanks for posting about it here and even providing links. Love the way you handled the "but I prefer vanilla" crowd.

I for one really appreciate the time you took to do a video review and think it is ridiculous to hear not once but multiple times from others that it was not good enough or not their style so would you please take some more time to cater to them with a written format. These actually motivated me to get one as well. Thanks

Looking for feedback?

The videos were okay, but a bit long. Avoid saying um all the time too.

a wonderful way to introduce oneself with the first post.:D

Maybe so, but his feedback is honest and valid.

I love the knife, but could not watch much of the vids.

Like others here, I find a written review backed up by clear photos and maybe a short vid or two to be optimal for sharing the type of information I'm looking for here on a Knife Forum.

Vids are fine for those for the U-Tube bunch, but don't clearly communicate as well as well written text with images careful chosen to support the it.

Long winded commentators, without a well written script, often with regional accents, combined with questionable camera work, turn me away from many vids very quickly.

A well done review is both informative and entertaining, and leaves you with food for thought.

+1 for the F1... i say it every chance i get. the knife is awesome! Any concerns people have about that handle being tough, trust me... fear not. I've carried one for the last 5 years now and i've done worse things to it than most. The handle has a few scratches on it and is worn in a couple spots, but its been on me my body for the equivalent of 2 years straight, in some rough spots. The tang is solid all the way through and it's tough as a boiled owl. even drilled the handle off my S1 to put a blade guard on it and just trying to get that handle off is a major pain.

P.S. I'm at work scamming on the internet, so i haven't watched the videos, sorry.
