I have a Fallkniven F1 and really like it. My only niggle is the grip is a little small for me. Do the larger S1 and A1 use the same size handle? It looks that way in the web photos....

Thanks for any info,

Hey Guys..
desmobob..

I know thats not the answer you were looking for,, so I'll explain it for you..

I have the entire set of this particular series of Fallknivens...

The

FI
FII
SI
Use the same handles

The

AI
AII

Use the same handles

They are larger and thicker than the "F"&"S" series.

The HI uses it's own handle as does the WMI

Hope that helps

The S1 and F1 have different handles.the F1 has a slanted choil where the S1's is straight. The F1 's is about a half inch shorter.

Hey Guys

Savage...

You are correct,, there is a Very slight difference between the SI handle and the FI handle,, it is however slight...

Not sure what you are calling the "choil"..None of them have what I would consider a choil...

I consider a choil a notch or place big enough to rest a finger to choke up on the handle of the knife...Anything smaller than a finger rest I would consider a Spanish notch...

However that is only my view....

For the most part though the SI and FI handles are in the same general ballpark in size and shape...

Eric,

Thanks for the information. I asked the same question to Fallkniven and their reply was, "the F1, S1 and A1 all have different handles and different sizes". :-)

I'm bummed the S1 doesn't have a larger grip. I wanted a blade a little larger than the F1's but I also hoped for a larger grip. I still like it, but now I'll have to choose between the S1 and A1. Geez... I'll probably have to buy both. (anyone want to loan me some dough?) ;-)

Thanks again,
desmobob

BTW-- Eric, I really like your sheaths for my Camp Tramp and RAT TAK1. One thing I had never considered is how much higher the knives ride in them. That puts them out of the way, and I'm more likely to carry them.

This could solve your problem!

You're killing me, Derrick! Looks like I'm doomed to follow you around to different forums and see these great knives!

Did you post them to British Blades or Bushcraft UK, yet? There has to be a safe haven for me and my wallet somewhere!!! :o)

Hello, I've been thinking about buying a S1. Is the A1's blade much bigger? Is the handle material different also? Could anybody post a picture side by side of those two models? Thanks in advance.

Eric, I've heard it called a "sharpening choil", too.

At least an inch longer and a little bit thicker IIRC.

Hi all:
Top to bottom.
F1...S1...A1:

This will give you an idea of the general size of the 3 handles.

The thickness of the F1 & S1 are close to being the same, with the S1 being a little thicker.
The A1 is much larger overall than the other two.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Cliff! That was very helpful, indeed. I obviously need BOTH the S1 and A1 to insure at least one of them fits my hand well. :D

If you think the handle on the F1 is too small , you'll probably feel the same about the S1 handle.
Like Eric said , they are only slightly different. Very slight.
The difference is mainly in the length , not the width or thickness.
It does feel smaller with the S1 due to the additional blade length , but they're practically identical.
If you decide to get both the A1 & S1 , then I would say that you made a real good decision! Any of those Fallknivens are hard to beat.
