Anyone know anything about the Micarta handled F1 in this picture?

Also, I heard Fallkniven will be selling blades without handles soon. Anyone have the latest on that?

I found the answer on the Fallkniven forums over at www.knifeforums.com. Fallkniven will sell the micarta handled, mirror polished F1 in August. They will also be selling blades you can put your own handles on

It looks very pretty.
Aside from this question, does any-one now where one can still buy the old F1 with a solid VG10 blade?

NEO(from the Matrix?)

There just a few of the F1´s left.Since spring 2002,Fallkniven started to use laminated blades in the S1,F1 and the A1.The prices have remain unchanched. The laminated don´t cost a dollar more than the solid ones.
I can tell you there are only improvments with the laminated knives.
1.They are 20% stronger than the solid ones.
2.They cost just as mouch as the solid ones.
Is it so that you don´t like laminated knives? The solid ones are very soon out of stock from most dealers. Intstead they have those with the laminated F1´s

I find the Fällkniven very good knives.
The Laminate ones take a 20% heavier load to brake, but when do they get a permanent bend.
I think sooner than a solid one would break? I know in extreme situations a bend blade is better than a broken one but for now I like the solid one.
Later I can always buy a laminated one :)

Aside this, would it be more expensive for a company to build a laminated A1 with a stock of 2 mm VG10 instead of a solid one of 5 mm VG10?

While we're on the subject, what are the different steels used in the laminated blades? Hardness?

The specifications for a laminated Fallkniven knife is:
The core of VG-10:Rockwell 59(close to 60).
The outer laminated steel is 420J2 and has Rockwell:55

The above specifications is taken from Fallkniven themselfs,so iam not sitting here making guesses.
The 420J2 is an excenlet steel to us at laminated knives. It´s so close to stain-less as it can be, and it is a soft easy to flexible steel.
Bottom line,i first want to make clear that i am not an metallurgist, but i promise you that the laminated is getting an inprovment in strength by 20%.
Check the strength tests for your selfs on:
