Hi, all first time posting, been referring to this forum for awhile now but never joined and decided today after an incident yesterday. I was at a thrift store looking for driver I could take to the range and let my friends practice on before using mine. There was none so I browsed around and in the display cases I see a Fallkniven PHK (professional hunting knife) going for $35.00 in good condition. I couldn't believe it these things go easily for over $250.00 new and the general rule is when buying something, if its too good to be true then it probably is. So my question is, is there a specific way I can tell if this knife legit or just a knock off. I think I'm just going to go back and buy it tomorrow, figured $35.00 might be worth the risk.......... any pointers or advice on what details I should be looking for to verify for authenticity before tomorrow would be greatly appreciated. I've tried looking online on Fallkniven's page and google but nothing really concrete. Thanks

Sorry I can't help with the ID, but for $35 I would jump on it!
Even if it's not a Fallkniven it's got to be worth $35...
Maybe somebody's ex-wife just donated the knife to the thrift shop for spite?

Great link, Viking, I imagine the convex grind is going to be tough for fakers to copy compared to a typical flat grind.

I do wonder about holographic stickers for authentication, couldn't fakers get these made? Sure it'd be harder than a simple paper tag but given the huge $ to be made (unfortunately) with counterfeits I wonder how the hologram stays out of their hands.

There are many Fallkniven counterfeits on the market. One of the easiest tells is the lack of a lamination line on laminate blades.

Well, whenever you see $2,000 watch sold for $200 on your local classifieds site in very good condition, search Internet: you will most likely find plenty of fakes of that particular model sold directly from China for $20 shipped for free...
So what about checking Fallkniven PHK: I will do it next, you never know!
