I removed the pocket clip from my Maroon Micarta FH9. Then modified the clip to create a "clip plate" to fill in the open spot left in the bolster.

I removed the clip by grinding partially through the bend, then snapping it off with a pair of needle nose pliers.

I shaped the plate with an 80 micron belt, and polished it with a 9 micron belt.

A dab of threadlock on each screw.... and done.

PS. for those unfamiliar with the FH9, the mother of pearl version does not have a pocket clip.

Doesn't really matter if they sell those clips as long as they don't change design and quality. I had to rebend the clip of my FH9 3 times and then it broke after 2 month. Looks like they use the same clip on the PXL models. What a drag:barf:

stevenkelby,
Yes, I believe they do sell spare clips.

mactitan,
This is the first I've heard of problems with the FH9 clips. There was a problem with clips on the initial run of PXL's, they were brittle and broke easily.

The problem was caught and corrected before the next run of PXL's went into production. (possibly even mid point in the first run, I don't remember for certain)

If you have a problem with a clip, I would contact Fallkniven via e-mail and let them know.

The clip on my PXL broke and Fallkniven shipped me one of the new clips, no questions asked. I have been using the clip for over a year now on a EDC basis with no problems.

On smaller knives like the FH9 I prefer to just drop it in a pocket with no clip.

If it wasn't for the blade I would have returned it.
The liners and the notch/cutout in the blade for locking were very sharp, In fact I cut myself omce drawimg it from the pocket. I had to sand those edges down. It is a fine cutter and holds an edge. But for its price it shouldn't have these issues in the first place.

If you look at the second last photo you will see that I rounded off the sharp corners of the rear blade tang as well.

I have a couple U2 with the same design and have not rounded them off. I never had a problem with the sharp corners, just found them noticable when handling the knife in the closed position, so decided to try rounding them off just to see if it helped the feel of the knife.

It does reduce how much you notice the tang when holding the knife.

Hi Kevin -

Very nicely done, and great pictures of the work too!

Thanks for posting - that is a very nice looking knife, and the more I see of Fallkniven the more I like them.

best regards -
