Fallkniven H1 handle too bulky??

I really want to pick up a Fallkniven H1. My concern is that I have small hands and the handle on the H1 looks pretty bulky in the pictures.

H1 owners, will the knive be difficult to handle for individuals with smaller hands? Would I be better off with an F1 which has thinner handle? Do you still love your H1? Please share your experience.

Thanks...

Hi Swatman...

Welcome to bladeforums.com

I find the handle of the HI very comfortable..It's kind of got a palm swell on it that feels good in the hand..

I'm not sure how you feel about guardless knives,, but you do need to be careful with it a little more than a knife with a guard..

The FI is also a Very good knife..
Nice size, stout a Great working knife...

It all depends on what you like I guess, and what you are planning on doing with it...
I prefer my FI,, however the HI has it's uses for sure....

The F1 and H1 are two very different knives, the blade thickness would be more of a deciding factor. While the H1 is sold as a hunting knife, in general unless you want a very high prying ability, the F1 makes a much more efficient cutting tool.

Eric, thanks for the welcome and your comments. I'm okay with guardless handle on the H1 since this is really not a self-defense knife. I don't plan to do any stabbing with this knife. I will carry bandages just in case. :)

Cliff, yous review on the H1 is what caused me to have this "lust" for the H1, especially the wood splitting part. The prying ability of this small knife is what really attracts me. I was just worry that the handle may be too thick to handle comfortably with small hand.

Many common kitchen items like spatulas have similar dimensions for the grip so you can reference it off of those. You can also just sand down (or cut off) material from the grip to customize.
