This is from a GunBroker auction for a Fallkniven S1:

Fallkniven Knives - S1 Forest Knife - 9 3/4" overall. 5 1/8" black CeraCoat 8H coated VG-10 stainless utility blade. Black checkered Thermourun elastomer handle with visible tang and lanyard hole. Open end leather belt sheath. New. Made in Japan.

Now, I'm fixin' to order one of these, but from another source. The knife description at that site does not say where it was made, but, AIUI, all Fallkniven's are made in Sweden yes/no?

All in Japan.
well, current production is, but there were made in germany some time ago, with ats34 steel.

The TK3 I have is made by Moki, a highly reputable Japanese knife maker. It is hands down the best made production knife I have (better even than one of their own knives which I have!). Don't know if their fixed blades are made by Moki too, perhaps someone will chime in:)

Fallkniven just likes to let people think their knives are made in Sweden. I don't know about current knives but the ones I saw a few years ago weren't marked Japan on the blades or the box.

the knife blanks are made in sweeden if it is vg-10 the ONLY way japan lets that out of there is in knife form

Yet they post this ,,

All our knives are being made in Japan by a conglomerate of small, highly specialized craftsmen companies. All sheaths are made in Europe or in the USA.
All design, test and development is being made by our company up here by the Arctic Circle. We also own all tools and molds for making the knives, including all sketches, drawings, technical specifications, logotypes etc. All distribution is made from here.
A small note - the iron comes from a mine just 140 kilometers north of us and comes back to us in a advanced shape.

So, we’re making Swedish knives in Japan.

But please do not compare us with Mora Sweden, they cost about $2-3 dollars here in Sweden, you get what you pay for if you know what i mean.

My best

My Fallkniven PXL folder is made in Japan and is very well made. Excellent fit/finish, with everything functioning just like it should. I don't know the exact maker, but Avoidspam said Moki was the maker of the TK3 he has, so I guess.........Moki.

Crappy/blurry pic, but you can get an idea.

I've got a G1 Garm and I read (I'm sure on Fallknivens website) that its Japanese made; My Dads U2 didnt come with any blade markings, but regardless both are real quality knives.

The IKEA Slitbar knife (VG-10) is made in China ;).

Knowing IKEA business practices, I would seriously doubt that. A quick look at their online catalog, and not even once the term "VG-10" is mentioned. Instead the steel is described as "...Blade: Stainless molybdenum/vanadium-steel".

Spyderco imported some VG10 a while back and made some knives in Golden with it. Sal has stated he can get VG10. ZDP, is used and heat treated here in the US by Kershaw only as far as I know,

Then they should be stamped made in Japan in nice big letters. I don't know how many magazine articles and web posts I've read by people that claimed the knives were 'finest Swedish quality."

How many uninformed, casual, non collectors do you think spend over $100+ on a knfie anyway, much less read knife related magazines and websites?

If their knives don't already have "made in Japan" on them, then I completely agree with you. I definitely think they should start doing that. It's only fair if I have to see "Made in China" on practically 70% of everything here. I actually thought they were made in Sweden by the way they are discussed here on this forum. I never would have thought otherwise because the lower quality Moras are even made in Sweden, aren't they? I have one of those.

How many do you think?? That isn't really an argument, since you don't know either. It's just a question you are posing to try to discredit Sidehill's reasonable request, which is followed by any American knife company I have seen. I doubt that you know the number of Fallknivens sold around the world, or for that matter how many of that number realize that it is made in Japan. If you don't know the statistics, we don't need to know either. Now if I were to assume, I would hazard to guess that Fallknivens are fairly popular in Europe. It may be a secret nowadays, just like how Carhartt has recently moved manufacturing to Mexico. Not everyone knows this because Carhartt has always been known as a US manufacturer. Maybe Fallkniven is the same way in Sweden.
