Fallkniven PXL -- that dang clip

The PXL is an awesome knife. It oozes with quality: smooth, solid, heavy and equipped with a laminated blade with a super-steel core. But, dang, it was hard to pull from my pocket. The clip was so stiff that I nearly tugged my pants up around my neck when I tried to pull the knife from my pocket. Who needs a weggie every time you draw your knife? So I decided to bend the clip just a little bit to loosen it up. This clip doesn't bend. It breaks. Three pieces.

Beautiful knife, but I'm going back to the Military.

Don't like to hear that. I too find the PXL to be a fantastic knife, solid, great fit and finish, and good looks too.

I don't use the pocket clip so never noticed any problems, sure don't like to hear the metal is brittle and breaks if you try to adjust it a bit.

Have you contacted Fallkniven regarding this? I'd be curious to hear what they have to say.

I might give them a try. I'd normally think that the pocket clip would be springy, not brittle. Maybe mine had a flaw. I didn't even pull it out that hard.

I have e-mailed Fallkniven in the past and they have been good about responding in reasonable time. I'd give it a try, you've nothing to loose.

There have been severe issues with the first batch PXL's. Almost every other clip broke off this way.

I ordered a spare clip just in case ;). Fällkniven AB will replace the broken clip, no questions asked. Just give them a call or send an Email.

Well, I just checked mine (serial # 0943) and the pocket clip is somewhat stiff, but not too much, but I have to add that I don't use the pocket clip that much.

Based on my (positive) experience with Fällkniven's CS is that they will replace your clip. One of the best knive makers around in every sense.

I sent Fallkniven an email with photo, and the company responded right away. It's going to send another clip for free. The serial number on mine is 0455.

So will the new clip be resistant to breaking?

The new one is said to be softer and more flexible.

Thanks, dePaul

Hey Predator, I know what you mean. But wait until you get to handle this one. Your wallet will understand.

You won't regret for having to buy this knife. I regard PXL as the European answer/counterpart of the Sebenza. Fit & finish might not be as perfect as with Sebenza, but I prefer 3G steel to S30V any day of the week.

I checked all three of my PXL's. The pocket clip on the Maroon handle snapped with virtually no force applied. The clips on both Ivory handles appear to be OK, they seem to be more flexible.

Serial number on the maroon 0510
Serial numbers on the ivory 0769 and 0770

The same thing happened to me six months ago, Fallkniven send me a new stronger clip.
So, mail them!

My clip arrived today only 4-5 business days after Fallkniven replied saying they were sending it.

My PXL is back to 100%, no muss, no fuss.

Great customer service from Fallkniven, no questions asked.

twindog, Thanks for the OP and bringing this to our attention.

Kevin,

Oh, and they sent a set of mounting screws too, not a big deal, but if you ever dropped one of those little puppies you would be real glad you had a spare.

I am a Fallkinven fan. Mine PXL is an IM like the one in the photo.

I have not had any problems at all with the clip and I use it an EDC (literally) in my pocket held by the clip. The number on mine is 0844.

I like the clip a bit tight. Its good for climbing/hiking to ensure the knife stays put.

I think this is the best folding knife I have had. I agree with the idea that its basically the European standard to compare against (equivalent of Sebenza in that respect).

I recently ordered a Sebenza 21 on a friends recommendation and some internet research. I have not handled a Sebenza yet and I can't wait to compare the two.

I hear great things about the Sebenza but I can't help thinking that the notion that it 'must be better' than a PXL comes form lack of exposure to Fallnkiven.

In any case, its going to be interesting finding out how they match up.

If you know of anyone who may have compared the two, please post a link. I would like to see some information on this.
