As you can tell I'm looking for a new folder. I already own the original Starmate, and I love it! I do carry it some but I am afraid to edc it. I really like the lines of the Fallkniven and the price doesn't seem too bad either. I like how the original Starmate's blade is thicker than the Military. Does the new Starmate keep the same thickness? The Fallkniven uses a laminate. Can someone tell me how that holds up to Spyderco's VG-10?

The PXL uses a laminate with an SG2 core. I had one and a co-worker had to have it so its been gone for about a year and a half. This particular knife has held up very well. He recently had it in for a sharpening and lockup is perfect with zero bladeplay, good detent. It was a little off center when I had it, and it still is. SG2 in my opinion is quite comparable to VG10. Takes a razor's edge, is easy to sharpen but does chip. My co-worker is somewhat of a cutlery abuser and the PXL has held up to 500 days of use for him now, and will for years to come. He loves it.

That said, I won't be replacing it personally and can't wait for my Starmate to arrive.

The PXLwh is the work horse in the PXL series. It is a robust, strong, lightweight, and extremely reliable folding knife in the larger size range. The blade is made in our brand new laminate cobalt special steel and it brings an unlikely sharpness that will last longer than you think.
