I was looking at the A1 model and it comes with your choice of sheath. Which is better? The store I was looking at was sold out of all the models with leather sheaths.... Does that mean the leather is more popular? Any one with experience or opinions on why one is better than the other?

Also, how does this knife compare to say, the SOG SEAL 2000 or Cold Steel SRK?

Thanks in advance for your help.;)

Hi Nathanial,

I recently bought a Fallkniven F1 with the Kydex sheath. It looks very nice, but seems a little clumsy to me. The rigid Kydex is hung on a nylon web belt loop, and the knife handle is secured with a nylon strap and snap.

To unsheath the knife, you have to unsnap and sweep away the handle retention strap, then, while gripping the knife handle, use your thumb to "pry" the knife out of the sheath.

I kind of wish I'd tried one of the leather sheaths....

Take it easy,
Bob

Fallkniven leather sheaths are quite well done, good simple design and sturdy leather. Generally you have a choice of flap-over or dangler/pouch styles. My F1 came with the dangler, which holds it quite safely but isn't convenient for one handed access. I got Normark to make a Concealex sheath for it, which turned out to be one of the best -- no, THE best -- knife/sheath combinations I own.
