Fallkniven S-1

I don't own the S1 but an NL-2 and a TK-3. Both are second to none as far as edge holding and cutting capabilities are concerned. The laminate VG10 is a very good steel. It's probably hard to find a better performing production knife than a Fallkniven. I'd pick any of them over a low end custom.

Yes .Used mine to chop some forsythia etc today. Good for light chopping, batoning and other camp chores. Very well made , excellent steel ,well worth the money.

I don't think I've ever read a negative review of a Fallkniven. Folks whose opinions I respect, like Normark and mete, like the S1 and other models a lot. Seems to me, Fallkniven has some really smart folks running it, and they've figured out how to make and sell dang good knives at a pretty reasonable cost. I think I need one :)

Hey Guys..

excellent woods knife. a friend has one and he loves it. very sharp, easy to maneuver, very usable blade length.

im not crazy about the sheath, but that is easily solved.

Hey Barny,

At the Fallkniven forum at KF there's a saying: you can't own just 1 Fallkniven knife... Kind of says it all I guess. Get one and be happy!

The S1 is one of the best knives I own.It fits the camp/survival knife roll perfectly.Mine has the kydex sheath but i modified mine.Instead of the nylon belt loop I cut all of that off and attached one of the clips from my tracker sheath.now it fits and draws very well.

Good? It would make a brilliant woods knife, in my humble opinion. :) Let me put it this way: there are some 500 $ custom and semi-custom knives that I would never choose over this relatively affordable Fällkniven. The S1, like all Fällkniven knives, isn't just a piece of high-quality steel with a random handle slapped on it. No, it's a very functional, practical design. It doesn't try to be a de-animation instrument or a tool for carving holes in car doors. It's a knife, and it excels at that.

Thank you to everyone that replied, I was wondering about the leather sheath too, is a open top, or a full sheath, becuase I've seen them with both.

I have somewhere around 13 or more Fallkniven models and not a one of them came that was not an outstanding knife.
Kind of like potatoe chips "Bet you can't have just one"!

Get it, get it!

My first Fällkniven was a S1, and now I have thirteen F1:s too.
When you get the S1 and use it for some time and think its too SMALL, get an A1, if its to BIG, get a F1. There are Fällkniven knives for everyone and his cousin? If you feel its to PLASTIC get the corresponding size in the NL series. ... and after some years you will have loads of Fällkniven knives.
It is pronounced fell-knee-when with a pronounced k in knee and when without h, like wenn in german.

The sheaths for S1 is a dangling leather sheath and a zytel sheath. If you are lucky you might find the old kydex sheath. There are also lots of aftermarket sheaths that are great.

If you are outdoors a good combination is a S1, a Laplander saw and some LM tool. It solves the bushcraft business toolwise.

Good luck with the S1. I will get more of those asap :)

You will love the S1....I like the A1 a little better because I have big hands, but my S1, F1, H1, and WM1 all see some use. Great knives.
