Hello All-

I'd like to hear from some folks who know the laws in Akron/Canton/Hudson area of NE Ohio. I've just purchased a Fallkniven S1, which is 5 1/4" fixed knife and carried in a sheath. Obviously, I don't intend to wear it to the mall, but what about camping? Or hiking? What about State Parks?

Do I have to keep it locked in the trunk for travel to the parking/hiking spot?

Thanks:confused:

Acording to the summit county sherrifs dept the answer is no as the blade is longer than 4 inches (i err on side of caution and mesure from hilt to tip) Im still waiting on email replies from every one from supream court to the DOJ Yep thats right i emaile dthe doj and atf and fbi and supream court on this. One freaking way or another im going to get the question answered on what is legal and what is not legal to carry in the state of ohio. Stupid vague laws any how.

Heck im gona make them put it in writing and signed and carry it around with me when i get a good high level gov answer.

I think us ohioians should try and get a definitive law established that leave zero questions as to what is legal and what is not. This is just plain stupid with what we have now. I mean seriously just what is a gravity knife for example., Could some stat seaking cop call grandads boker congress (a paticular knife i have) a srping knife because it has back springs. Can my master knife liner lock be considered a gravity knife is my pivot screw becomes loose during carry?

How about my 200 dolor 1916 schrade walden button knife that has a spring that pops the blade out to get at the nail notcheless blade be considered a switch blade? The blade does not fully open when the button is pressed and was never ment to. Instead the spring pops the blade up to open. Its a 2 blader btw incase you have yet to see one.

Fact is whos to say what knife is what legally. There are no difinitive descriptions as to what a knife is considered by law.

There's a Summit County Law of 4". That's the first I've heard mention of that. I did have a smart-alec cop on another forum tell me that no "civilian" should have a knife over 5" for any reason. Not that I asked his opinion; I only wanted to know the law.

Good for you, Novaflare. Please post your findings!

Yeh i was suprised my self. Fact is not only did the sargent i talked to say 4 inches another officer in the room over heard us and said "a good rule of thumb when out and about is to slap it against your palm sense the avarage is right around 4 inches give or take." And sure enough i mesured mine for fun and its 3.75 inches across.

So while not exactly accurate if you mesure your palm and remember it and go to buy a knife you can get your self in the ball park pretty easly.

Any how theres a post here by me where ill post more info as i get it.
