After a long time thinking my choice for a medium size stainless steel fixed blade to use as a heavy-duty outdoor knife is reduced to Fallkniven S1 and Entrek Survivor.
Please, help me to take the final decision or suggest me something else with the same features and in the same price range (about $ 100)!
Thanks.

I own both I like some of Entrecks other models more. For what you are
ollking for I think you will be happier going with the F1.

Hi Bear..

You Definately can't go wrong with the Fallkniven SI...

Its truely a great knife, that will do pretty much anything you'll want it to...

Eric...

Handle is a little small on the S1. A1 handle feels much better.
I wish Fallkniven had chosen to use the same size handle on the S1.
I like all the CS offerings in this price range (SRK - Master Hunter -Bushranger) and I love my new Becker BK7. The Companion is too heavy -unless you're looking for a 5" chopping knife.

Every time I’m on the way of ordering the S1 something new comes out to stop me. I have quite big hands and a little handle could be a serious problem.
About CS and Becker knives, they are surely good knives (I already own the CS SRK!) but I’m now looking for a stainless steel blade that can better fit my needs of an outdoor knife to use in marine environment too.
Fallkniven A1: is that what do I need?
Nobody told me something about Entrek knives, the Elk model is in the same length range of the A1!
I’m waiting for more suggestions.
Bye

If you can live with a knife that is a little longer the your Cold Steel SRK, get the Fallkniven A-1. The S-1 is a closer comparison suits me just fine.

Both the S-1 and A-1 are excellant knives.

I also own both and I like the VG10 steel in the Fallkniven knives alittle better then the 440c in the Entrek knives. It really holds an edge far longer and also is heavier in profile then the Entrek

I have both, the S-1 and the A-1 from Fallkniven! GREAT KNIVES; really hard to beat! Concerning the S-1 and it's handle,....yes,....a little bit small. I have really big hands and nevertheless it would fit for almost any occasion! Compared with the A-1 I can say that this handle fits much more, provides excellent feeling and control, but it is a little bit softer and sometimes I wished, it would have been made also form Thremorun E, the S-1's handle material. The Kraton handle is in my oppinion a little bit too soft and after the experience I made with it it is not as durable as the Thermorun handle of the S-1! Nevertheless,....... the A-1 is a wonderful knife!

Don't know if anyone else had made the following same strange experience: After cleaning the A-1 with hot water the handle becomes a little bit softer than it is originally and you can find a very little gap between the tang and the Kraton handle and water comes in and causes little rust,..... not much, but a light brown discoloration is noticeable and it takes a really long time to get the water out there! Never had this "problem" wit a F-1 or S-1!
I solved this problem by applying sentry solution into this little gap and had no problems anymore!

Nevertheless,..... the A-1 is one out of my numerous knives, I would not miss anymore! It is, without any doubt, my no.1 outdoorknive.

you will not regret buying the S1...or, at least, I don't. Not sure about other knife. Buck Intrepid II or Benchmade Nimravus seem to be in your price range. I like the Fallniven better than either of these, but not sure why...blade material and blade thickness, perhaps. good luck, rdogout
