I'd like to have one of these to take camping, but there is one thing scaring me away from it - the convex blade grind. How hard are they to sharpen? Is it worth the trouble, or should I just go with the A1 since it isn't convex ground? (I'd really rather have the S1)

Also, if I was to go ahead and get the S1, would I mess it up sharpening it with a Lansky or Sharpmaker? Thanks for the help!

I think the A1 is also convex ground now.

If you sharpen with a Lanskey you will simply create a v-grind edge, this will not destroy the knife but just alter its abilites a little.

To sharpen a convex knife and keep the convex profile use a loaded strop, sandpaper on a soft backing or a slack belt sander.

There are many threads discussing convex sharpening in more detail and as well there is now a Fallkniven forum on Knifeforums.
