Fallkniven S1X vs S1 Pro?

Does anyone here have experience with the fallkniven S1X? I have the Pro version and love the blade but am meh on the handle. It’s a bit rough for bare hands and isn’t quite full tang. It gets cold here in the winter, so the full rubber grip is nice sometimes, but it doesn’t get Sweden cold…

The X just looks like a more reasonable design, and I like the idea of putting some micarta scales on it at some point. I’d love to hear some feedback on the X series, or even better, a comparison of the two.

I've handled both. FWIW, I found the S1X ever so slightly more comfortable to hold due to slightly fatter handles. I also prefer the blade shape on the S1X too.

As a member of the big paw club, I'd prefer a longer handle. Since you have the Pro, probably not an issue for you.

The thick blade stock doesn't bother you eh? I had an ESEE 5 with .25" stock. I went down to an ESEE 4 and thinner stock.

If you get micarta handles (assuming that is an option), you are at $300 or so. Do you have your heart set on a Fallkniven or are you open to other options?

CS SRK in 3V? Similar handle material but comfortable imo.

I would probably just make my own scales for it. The 3v SRK does look nice, but it’s out of stock everywhere and I was hoping to steer away from rubber handles. The X can actually be rehandled easily which is really what caught my attention. I love the Cos steel. The blade is a bit thick for sure, but stainless makes me nervous with a survival knife to begin with, so I’m willing to put up with it.

I've had the S1 Pro and the grip was way too small for me, and I only have medium hands. There's no reason, other than some oddball aesthetics, that a maker needs to make a handle tiny just because the blade isn't 6". One can still make a handle sizable enough to fill the hand, while also making it unobtrusive to the appearance. I say, go for the X, because there's a better chance of a larger handle.
