Hi guys, I bought a Fallkniven a1 in vg7 and I’m wondering what is the best method to sharpen it. I have a dc4, cc4, strop and I will be buying some shapton stones. Any tips would be much appreciated!

I'd say the diamond is too much for it. Just really easy to remove too much material. Unless a steel has a lot of Vanadium or is just really slow wearing I stay way from diamonds.
Your ceramic or Shaptons would be fine.

It's not that you couldn't sharpen any steel with diamond, just that you need a lighter hand and a little more awareness in low Vanadium steels.

Maybe this is helpful for you:

Get yourself one of these and some sandpaper from your local hardware store.

My Home Depot has up to 3k grit which is about as far as I'd ever take my F1.

Edge-trailing strokes, check for a burr occasionally, and work through a progression from coarser to finer. Finish on the strop.

You'll have an edge that stands up to abuse, will pop hairs off your arm, and feather stick like a champ.
