fallkniven sheath - leather dangler or Zytel

I am considering getting a Fallkniven s1 or F1 or both have the option of getting the leather dangler sheath (scandanavian style) or the zytel.

I may get an aftermarket sheath anyway. I am intersted on opinions from people who have them - what they prefer and why.

For me it is as much art as practicality. I very much doubt I will ever wear it - but may get it out of a pack to use

The new molded plastic sheath are nothing like the old thermo formed fitted kydex sheath. Its like a plastic box sheath. I much prefer the cheaper leather sheath and get a Normark kydex later..

I have several Fallkniven models, some with kydex some with full cover leather some are the dangler style.
The dangler has my vote hands down. The don't poke you in the side and when you sit down they just swing out of the way especially when getting in and out of the car. I wish all my knives(somewhere over 100) were in dangler style sheaths. They are also a lot easier to remove the knife and put it back in.

My opinion, FWIW

I just got a F-1 with the zytel. It is not bad at all. The dangler is not my style. I will eventually get a kydex.

It is a great knife!

I agree, the Dangler sheath is much more suitable for an user of the F1.
The F1 is the "Ultimate" fixed blade for any outdoors activity,in my opinion.

I have a leather sheath for my F1, with the snap-over cover going over the top.
It's great.

My vote goes with the zytel since my S1 is my go-to boating and fishing knife and the zytel dries out fast and doesn't retain moisture near as long as leather.

Thanks

As it happened I judt found an F! in a shop to my surprise - and further they were prepared to come near to ebay prices - so paid $150 Australian - approx US135 for an F1 which came with leather dangler. - this may seem a lot but is around $100 less than normal retail here

Am enquiring about getting a nomark

Un update and call for more input.

I have the F1 leather - also now with a Nomark Zytel. Also and S1 as well. Love them both for different reasons

1. The Nomark is good but very very hard to get the knife out of - is there a way to easily mod the sheath to make it a little less grippy? i.e heat carefully over a gas falme and bend? Or does that simply happen with time or maybe if I stick a slightly larger object in to put sustained pressure on the right spot for some time

2. What are good aftermarket sheaths for the S1.Prefferably a high belt riding deep seated leather - sort of like taking the deep seated dangler and attaching a belt loop direct to the sheath?

I like the convenience of dangler as mentioned but over here it would get caught up in the bush here and despite the movies (Crocodile Dundee) large knives are not worn opently in much of the country and it would be more discrete if bumping into poeple in the bush unexpectedly.

Timeless JRE is a contender - what do you mean by beltloop or teklock ??

Look for advice
