I've read as much as I could about these two knives, including the Fallkniven website, but I'm left a little confused about some things. One concerns the steel used on both. It's the same right? Cause for the U1 it says it uses 3G and the U2 says it uses SGPS (Super Gold Powder Steel, I can only assume it's a Japanese steel going by the name
). Reading the descriptions of other knives on their site, my guess is that SGPS is the actual edge steel, and 3G is the collective term for the whole laminate, i.e. SGPS sandwiched in a VG# steel. Is that right?
My next question is about the grind...it looks like a convex but I didn't see it stated anywhere so I want to be sure.
Then pricing...seems the U1 (a slipjoint) is much more expensive than the U2 (a lockback). I would think the opposite to be true. Is the U1 more expensive just because of the handle material or what? I'd prefer the U1 but would expect to pay the same or less than the U2.
Thanks for your help
