Greetings!
I love carving things out of wood and need some quality knife for this job one that holds an endge and preform all the tasks required by carving. I came across this little knife-"Fallkniven U2" on our local online auction house where its price taged 100 euros so i checked on internet and found out you can get brand new for like 60 dollars so cleary i wont buy it there. Anyway reviews that i read stated that its realy good knife holding edge well but i also stumbled across some bullshit tests where it cuts hair and paper well great but what about other materials like wood .... and other materials

Also i would like to ask If there is any knife dealer or collector from slovenia here of near by countrys austria italy croatia or hungary im not looking for some perfect condition knife i dont care if its been used ats long its fuctional i dont wana get :jerkit:

thx in advance for answers

Tine

aloha i have a U2 i got it used for $40, man i love this little guy when i first got it i thought ah ,plastic the cheap, who would buy this for $70,but now if i lose it i would buy another.for the past 8 months i carry it withme 24/7 ,,i carve wood, make fire sticks, open boxes, everything,,i never got it to slice hair like the videos but i can get it wicked sharp i can shave with mine an to top it off it can hold an edge very well,,aloha

The SGPS steel is a real super steel !! You won't spend much time sharpening it.Can take a very sharp edge and keep it !

It's one damn sharp knife, nice little and light knife to carry around. Good for detail work, but I think a bit too small if you do big amount of whittling.

I would appriciate any other sugestion for other Knifes

also if anyone has good knife for sale dont need to be mind condition im not colector let me know "at least europe" i dont wana pay for postage from other continents

There are so many interesting ones in several different styles. Since you seem to like the "gentlemen-style but high quality" flavour of the U2, check out these brands (and a number of other ones):

- Moki
- Mcusta
- Klotzli

Also check the Eka Masur.

Since you want to buy in europe, do check the british site www.heinnie.com which these days has some really good offers because of the splendid pound sterling / euro exchange ratio.

else if I don't own one (neither an U2) I would suggest the fallkniven TK4. Infact it is the big brother of the U2 with, if possible, in a superior steel (the external layers of the Sgps blade are in VG10 while in the U2 those are of a softer steel, the core is the same, carbonium steel). It should cost around 100 Usd brand new, and may be less ordering from england, and is what you where prne to spend for a second hand one.
:o

The U2 should be up to your tasks, I've heard many good things about the laminate powder steel.

Welcome to bladeforums, I'm no mod, but I got in trouble for some language a couple months ago, so I'd watch it. Hope this helps:)

Thank you all for help and good sugestions. Unfortunaly i dont have ways to buy online, limited to cash only that poses small problem. SO stores in america and far in general are sadly out of option.Anyway i have contacted dealer of Fallkniven knifes in Slovenia but got no response from it. Maby its a dead branch still visable on the Fallkniven site..

If anyone has TK4 here for sale for resonable price from europe and its willing accept old fashioned way of payment cash in advance or after reciving let me know.

I just got my U2 and it is by far the sharpest knife I have ever held. I began an arm hair shaving test and it started to bite into my skin. I'm not trying that test with this one :D

Trying to feel the edge with thumb does the same thing. Cutting paper there is almost no resistance, it just slips through the paper so easily.

Very comfortable in the pocket. Fit and finish isn't perfect, slight wiggle if you pull back on the blade. I understand that happens with some lockbacks and it doesn't bother me. I love the design for the price. The weight, blade shape, and pocket comfortability is all worth it.

There is in Croatia http://www.replikart.com/ with very moderate prices. Prices are lower than in Austria. You can call the owner and ask everything - he is a nice guy.

They have a lot of Fallkniven knives, but you can also order them. Just go to the 'Internet Trgovina' and check the items.

P.S. If you have more questions you might mail me.
