Fallkniven vs. Bark River

I like the Bark River Bravo 1, and I really like the Bark River custom Fallkniven F1 and S1 models. They all have excellent blade shapes, integral guards, convex edges, and from what I have seen no one has complained about either.

So if you could only have one, which would you pick: a Bark River or a Fallkniven?

This is mostly a question of A2 vs. laminated VG10. Which is better in your opinion, and why?

Fallkniven's laminated VG10 did very well on the knifetests.com destruction tests so I am leaning in that direction, but would like some comparisons by experts.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Based on that page it looks like it's a matter of personal taste. No one seems to say why A2 is better than VG10 or vice versa.

I'd agree with the statement that it's largely a matter of opinion. That's at face value though. Once you start to take a closer look and "split hairs" so to speak(to my knowledge both knives will split hairs if sharpened properly) though, you get into a different realm of discussion.
The obvious factors being environment and use. Are you in a coastal environment and exposing your knives to the elements regularly or using them on acidic foods? Do you regularly maintain your knives, or religiously maintain your knives, or just toss them back in the sheath when you're done with them?
I'm not sure what the hardness is of the BRKTs, but Fallkniven usually runs about 59HRC. This could be a factor as well if you plan on doing any heavy chopping or woodwork, or cutting material that may have embedded particles. One steel may be more prone to chipping, while the other may simply roll, etc. etc.
Personally, I love my Fallknivens and have no experience from BRKT(almost bit the bullet once, but they were out of stock for the model I was interested in), but unless you happen to fall into an area of specialty where one steel would perform better than the other for the given tasks I think both companies offer good designs with excellent warranties and customer service.
Again, no experience with BRKT just going by what's been said by people I trust.
Good luck with your decision and I hope you enjoy it.
