I'm looking for a general carrying/survival knife but in reality more of a utility knife in a Fallkniven. I already have a Scrapper 6 for chopping/survival, Khukuri for a camp knife, Gameswarden for skinning/hunting, and thinking about a cheap puuko for smaller game.

I see the A1/A2, F1, H1, and S1 and they all seem to fill my requirements. The only problem is I have no way of handling any of them. They all are around 5-6 inches, VG10, and extremely versatile. What I want is a "military" feel to the knive, I'm guessing that would be the A1/A2 or even the F1, but once again, I've got no feel for the knives.

Whadyou guys suggest?

I'm not interested in the KaBars or Ontarios, I want a really high quality military knife, not to say that they arent, they just aren't want I'm looking for.

What you need is another Gamewarden. :)

The only Fallkniven I have is the H1, which is a great knife, but it really is a skinner/hunter, not what you're looking for.

Of the F1 at 3.8", S1 at 5.1", and A1 at 6.3", I think the only significant difference is which length is more comfortable for you. I think the S1 is a good compromise. Also, it is .20" thick, the same as my H1, which is pretty massive. The F1 is thinner and the A1 is thicker yet.

Geez, excuse me, I was drooling over those Gamewardens all day. I meant I already have a Gameskeeper on order. Sorry its late :)

I sort of want the Al because of its length. What i would really like is a Ka-Bar styled knife, with the higher quality. But I also love the Fallknivens.

Actually I'm gonna go for the A1. It fills the gap left by my other knives almost perfectly, and its a beautiful knife as well.

That's why you can't go wrong ... you're constantly filling in any gaps you find. AND supporting a great industry. :p

The trick is, don't waste time & money on cheap knives. Inexpensive is OK, but don't impulse-buy something you don't need or already have covered.

I don't follow ebay prices. They may be good, but they aren't necessarily going to be consistent/available. I prefer to check a few good internet dealers for knives i want, if I don't come across them on our trade forums.

www.newgraham.com

There are many more excellent dealers out there who are generally competitive within a few dollars, and you will get dependable service from them.

Looks like Ebay shops are still the lowest and they have great ratings for the most part. I've had luck with them before too.

Thanks a ton though, you've helped me quite a bit! And those are some good online shops with close prices that I never saw before.

Is ebay the best prices for Fallknivens?
The best prices? Maybe. I never checked. To me: Service, reputation, reliabilty and other aspects are as important a part of the package as pricing. I bought my Fallkniven A1 from New Graham Knives.

Btw: The best price on knives, or anything, for that matter, isn't always found on eBay. In fact: It's been my experience you'll often pay more there.

There was an A1 for sale on the "other" forum just yesterday. Very fair price, too. Check it out.

Funny! And true, of course.

Great advice.
