I bought a Flickr album, fallniven a1 pro from eBay. I did some research and I am pretty sure that all fallniven s come with a convex edge on them. When this one showed up it had a beveled edge and a saber grind. I am thinking it is fake. It is the A1 pro in Elmax. Any insight would be great.

Can you see the layers looking at the spine ??? Someone could have sharpened it. Pics aren't clear enough for me to see what I need to see.to definitely tell...Sorry!

I know that's what the pro in vg10 should look like. I don't think Elmax is a sandwiched steel though. Like the san mai cold steel does isn't Elmax just a stainless steel?

Ebay is a clue.

Buy from the source or an authorized dealer. Counterfeiters are as abundant as Tik Tokers.

Fix the edge as folks here have explained.

Initiate a return request stating item isnt as described, ebay will pretty much make him accept the return by reaching in and taking the money you sent him for payment until issue can be resolved,
And buy one from an authorized source

I would do some cutting and see if the edge holds up like ELMAX. I have the FX1 in ELMAX, missing convex edge from previous owner. If it’s new and missing convex edge,I would file complaint and tell the bay it’s fake because it’s not configured like Fallkniven grind. I look my knives over with a Leica microscope. Under magnification the guy on the left has a lil weenie showing, see pic. Fakes don’t have the weenie .😉IMG_1180.jpeg

I decided it was the perfect occasion to test the super macro mode of my new mobile phone (Pixel 10 pro XL).
Turns out you don't need a Leica microscope to see the weenie 😂

Another easy way is to check by using the HiddenTag app on your phone. If it’s genuine it will have a legitimate sticker on the box to scan that will direct you to Fallkniven that will confirm whether it is legitimate or not.

Elmax variations won’t have a lamination line, and the previous owner could certainly have put their own edge on it, so I’d go by the holographic sticker on the box using that app and I guess the weaner (never knew the weaner thing).
