False edge on Talwar

Is there any use for the false edge on the Talwar or is it just for design?

Mainly for design but would help anytime the knife would be used for stabbing

On a fixed blade , the spine could work as a bone breaker or just to smash stuff w/o dulling the edge .

On this folder , mostly aesthetics and maybe balance . My WAG !

I thought the same: If it would be a fixed you could use it - but purposely hit wood with the spine of a folder ... even with tri-ad not the most clever idea
