Anybody know if these can be found in N.J.?

I tried google and had no luck with a range they could be found in.

If they cant be found around me, I think I made a cool discovery:D

Thanks guys.

What do you mean false ? I have heard a few times here in the valley , people mention something called a "wind scorpion" , supposedly this thing looks like a tan scorpion and sort of 'floats' on the ground as it moves.
I havent seen one and really dont want to cuz I might scream like a girl.

I don't have a field guide to arachnids, but one reference said that there are ~350 species in North America, so it is likely that you have them in New Jersey. I have seen them indoors several times here in the midwest. I would surely never see them outdoors, unless I was rooting around in the leaf litter...;)

If you can't get a definitive answer from someone on BFC, you could try here. They have a forum for asking questions. The site is real slow though, so click "Stop" in your browser if some images fail to load.

If anyone looks at the pictures and freaks out, you have to realize that these guys are tiny - really tiny.

I'm not aware of any scorpions, bona fide or false, in New Jersey, but you learn something new every day.

Joe, these guys aren't the large, stinging scorpions that people are familiar with from the desert SW. They are only about 3 - 4mm long. The reason that I noticed them is because they were on a light surface like a table or desk. They are very cool the first time you see one, just like a regular scorpion, but shrunk way down, and with no stinger tail. They just crawl around eating household insects. There is a lot of stuff in that size range or smaller that we never notice.

Yes, after much googlage I found some info on the Pseudo-scorpion and that appears to be what I found. This thing was miniscule, at first I thought it to be a deer tick, "head of a pin" sized.

After closer inspection I was blown away by finding a scorpion, or what I thought to be one.

Now I just need to convince all the guys at work who think I'm going into the woods at lunch and smoking crack ever since I told them I saw a scorpion.
