Hello, first off let me say I'm proud to be a red white and blue flyin' American.

With that said, my family tree is made up of mainly Scots/Irish and German blood.

I would really like to try and find a good traditional slipjoint that is made in Ireland, Scotland, and Germany...one from each.

I know there are many out there made in Germany and I have a few.....but based on ones you've seen what brand would you recommend.

Also your recommendations for Irish made and Scottish made too please.

Not necessarily looking for new or modern, would prefer older....but that can still be found even if in used condition.

Thank you.

Gespenst....thank you! Any way you know of to ID which ones, are they marked made in Ireland or anything close like that?

They are stamped Ireland right on the tang.

Well even a novice like me should be able to spot that! :-)

Still looking for any and all recommendaitons for German, Irish, and Scottish (if there are any for Scotland?)

Thank you!

Two great ones for sure.....in my opinion anyway, the older ones that is. Thank you!

You might ask this guy, over on the Schrade forum.

Information from Ireland
Hi, my name is Michael Kennedy, former Warehouse and Distribution Manager for Imperial Schrade Europe Ltd. The Irish manufacturing facility, based in Listowel, Co. Kerry, Ireland. I may be able to offer some knowledge of that part of The Imperial Schrade Corporation, should anyone be looking for it.

Carl Schlieper (Eye Brand), for German. Or something from Ottermesser might be more traditional... the Eye Brand knives follow American patterns.
As was stated before, some older Imperials were made in Ireland, and you'll be able to tell easily which ones you're looking for.
Scotland... No idea about pocket knives. Get a Sgian Dubh.

There is an Irish Brand called Jowika (sp) or something close to that.

Schrade made a couple knives in Ireland, I don't recall how traditional they are, but that's were they be from! :-D
