Several weeks go, we went to Aroostook Co. Maine to visit family. The weather was warm and the scenery tremendous. I will add some more pics after my daughter get the cameras downloaded. We had some goals for the trip. On the way we stopped at Niagara Falls. the children had never been there.

Goal 1 Eat outdoors as much as possible. (Did that) 7 nights in a row we ate over the camp grill that I built. And 3 mornings had breakfast. Even in the rain under a tarp twice.

I am struggling to get the pics to upload from Imgur. Any thoughts? I think I got it...

We wanted to collect paper Birch bark and start fires with it. Did that and learned a lot.

We wanted to make some wooden spoons with our axes, and knives. Did that. Made 5. More pics to follow... In part because we forgot ours at home somehow and need them bad for baked beans, and stirring potato's and stuff.

1 is shown in 4rth pic above

My son wanted to learn how to start a fire with his first Becker (15) on a ferro rod. (He is still working on it.)

I apologize the pictures are so large. I downsized the, and I am using the thumbnail option on Imgur, but they are still to big... ?

They're fine. As a heads up, you can post up to 40 photos in one post.

Thank you for taking me along..... Appears to be a fine son you have........ I loved the pics.....

If you edit the link by adding a lowercase L to it right in front of the .jpg part at the end of the random letters/numbers, it should shrink them to large thumbnail size. If you add a lowercase M it'll make them medium thumbnail size, but those are often hard to see.

Good times!! How long was the trip?
I'd like to plan something like this for my family to do in the spring.

WE were up there 6 days. And another 3 days of driving each way! Next year we plan to go later and also do some waterfowl hunting and possibly bear hunting.

Camp fires were so much fun.

The view looking into Canada. We were about 1/8 of a mile from the border.

This is exactly it. The l is the best size imo.

Great pics! I'm hungry now. [emoji14]

You went to Aroostock, the potato capitol of the universe (sorry Idaho, Maine wins) and didn't post any pics of cooking potatoes around a camp fire!!! I think that's a hangin' offense in some parts!

Speaking of which...

How did you season the BK2 prior to grilling? Do you need to marinate first?
I think we should consult "The Joy of Cooking" to see if there is a section on cooking BK2s. If not, perhaps Ethan needs to include that in the next edition.

Very cool. I may not have 9 days, but I would like to get the wife and kids up to Niagara at some point. Thanks. Glad it was a fun time. Thanks for the pics.

ha! It was only on there for the pic... And we did do potato's. With Bacon cheese and bacon !

Mr Becker, thank you for the knives. They made the trip more complete. Being up there in the "north woods" just feels better with a sturdy knife to use for whatever reason...

Thank you King for the advice. It works great

Brian77, all kidding aside, Aroostock is a great place to visit and do some outdoorsy stuff. I had work up there this past summer that took me to Presque Isle for a couple days. The landscape there is a little slice of heaven.
Glad you had a good trip with the family.
