Why? Go to different mfg. forums and read some of the comments about the products of maker x being better and best, also references to owners ass boss and uncle. Why only buy one brand with so much to offer and so much variation in steel, style, etc. I get being a knife nut but a brand name nut? Fanboys make knives more expensive and hold the knife world back as far as what materials are used and what makers are available and seen on youtube nd the forums. Why only buy one brandname and hype it beyond reality on the forums andin your head? Why fanboyism?

I agree some people blindly follow one particular brand, butim not seeing how favoring one brand holds things back. Take Spyderco for example. They have a very large line of small knives, big knives, medium knives, expensive knives, cheap knives, pretty knives, ugly knives, cutting edge materials in some models, and proven staples in others. I am open to other brand's knives and own many, but I find that one brand does a better job most of the time designing knives to my liking.

Just got my first Spyderco and LOVE it, but I would have payed less for it if Spyderco fanboys didnt exist. Syderco does push the bladesteel boundries, but most companies stick with whats marketable.

Like that quote by the way, dont waive your rights with your flag aka patriot act aka recent boston tragedy.

What kind of spyderco did you get? (Pics?) some things work on supply and demand. IDK what's up with their Para2 but everyone seems to want one (I have 4) but they aren't available anywhere right now.

Fan of many knives, I am.

Better than yours they are.

Accept it, and move on, you should!

I like many knives. Custom, Production, Cheap, expensive. Traditional, modern. No biggie.

This is silly. Do you really think Ford fanatics drive up the price of Fords or Trek fanatics drive up the price of Treks. These people, regardless of how annoying they may be, make up a small portion of the market and have no effect on it. If you think a certain brand of knife is over priced, don't buy it, unless, of course, it really is as good as the fanboys say.

Fanboys drive prices up, This is fact

That's only if manufacturing can't keep up with demand, like with the Paramilitary 2, and that only affects prices on the secondary market. Otherwise, companies will keep prices down as much as possible. Most of the "most bang for your buck" companies like Victorinox, Mora of Sweden, and Opinel sell a mind boggling number of knives compared to the likes of Spyderco and Benchmade, which allows them to keep prices extremely low. The companies that do sell overpriced knives to "fanboys" are the old popular brands that went out of business and were acquired by another company that bank on the reputation of the name they acquired to reel in customers like Gerber and Schrade.

It was a military. had it about a week now and love it, great slicer and really like the handle and texturing, no play, centered, and purty. But there not the only knives i will be buying. I Feel like the only companies ever mentioned on these forums are bencmade, kershaw, spyderco, busse, becker and essee. Is the knife world that small or just that close minded. Not hatin, I like those makers too though dont own a becker or benchmade knife.

too put it simply. your knives cant be much if any better than mine. though you may have more than me thats no biggie bigfanboy, I mean fatty.

Not a good way to start a topic. Not a good way to end one either. Insulting people never turns out good. Maybe with this lesson you will learn to respect others opinions as well as your own, no matter how off base your opinion may be.
