Just had a student go check my mailbox here at school and what does he come toting back with him............a UPS package from Crawford Knives! I had all but forgotten about placing this order ( placed in Dec. ), but knew instantly what it was. I had requested a covert folder with a few additions. These included a slightly longer spacer bar, which was fileworked and polished. Handle scales of burl ironwood, BEAUTIFUL, and satin finished titanium bolsters. Man this thing is nice. The blade thickness was increased and Pat included a LOT of filework on the clip and liners. Lockup is TIGHT with no blade wobble at all.
Have to say that this knife has some weight to it especially for the medium size that it is. The Crawfords, Pat and Wes, sure know how to put a heavy duty package together. The solid steel backspacer runs 3/4's the length of the knife. Titanium liners, ex. thick, and titanium bolsters, along with the thick ironwood scales makes for a heavy package indeed.

All in all a nice surprise to find in the mail, especiallly when you weren't expecting one! Pat and Wes have created quite a little knife for me one that I am sure I will be proud to tote!

Now that you've whet my appetite, what about a pic of your new toy?

Now that I have had this knife for a couple of weeks I have to say that I really like it. I have split time with my regular edc, a MADD MAXX, and carried this one. I go from one extreme to the other with these two to say the least! The MM is about the extreme for the longest blade I will carry, while the Covert at a hair over 3.5" is close to the smallest I will carry. I was sold on the overall shape of the knife the first time I ever laid eyes on it. Actually bought one back in November but decided it was too small. What changed my mind? I asked Pat to make two major changes, both of which improved the knife tremendously in my eyes. I had him to increase the blade thickness to 5/32" and extend the spacer back to the edge of the bolsters. The added weight, now about 5.5oz is much more pleasing to me and the knife has a "stubby" look to it which in my opinion is an improvement. One reason I like the MOD series of knives is the thick blades, especially for such a short blade. Well that is exactly what I got from Pat and couldn't be happier. Add the extra file work, some premium ironwood handles, and EXCELLENT fit and finish and I have a knife to be proud of. I think Pat is sometimes overlooked on some of his fancy stuff, maybe because he turns out so many basic users. When he puts his mind and hands to it Pat and Wes turn out as good as any.

All in all I am extremely pleased with the way this knife turned out and will be talking to Pat about doing another with a 4.0" blade.
