Here's a friction folder I just finished up for a gent over the pond. Designed to his specifications (actually, mostly his design), I thought it turned out very well.

The blade steel is 1095 and it sports titanium liners and the scales are cocobolo, I believe. Actually, the customer found the block of wood in a local market and thought it had a very nice grain so he shipped it to me and I sliced it up.

Thanks for checking it out.

Nice hamon!
It looks vere sheeple friendly.
The new owner should be very happy

Thanks for the nice words, guys! I may have to make one of these for myself, they're fun to play with.

Beautiful work. I like the relative simplicity of friction folders - they appear uncomplicated although I know making them is not. Good photographs!

Great looking and very creative work. Easy to tell a lot thought and talent went into this knife and all of it came out well.

Sorry for digging this up, but after looking at this for probably 30 minutes, I have to say the fileworking is a very very nice touch. Not super complex and intertwined, but just enough to add a great flair to the blade. I'm currently in the process of building a grinder but the first project for me is a friction folder. You mentioned it being more difficult to make? Can you perhaps share what aspects are more difficult? I have a CAD drawring checking clearances but you have me thinking I am missing something?

Tobin,

I'd say you might want to make more of those. Based on the picture and the comments I'd say you have a winner - run with it. Speaking of that, when open, it looks to me like a Rhino running.

You can use "Running Rhino," I won't mind.

Great knife.

That is awesome! Great work...I have been thinking about trying a friction folder, this might give me the push i need :) Very nice!

Only more difficult in the aspect of friction folder versus fixed blade, but not too difficult to take a shot at it! :)

Thanks!

Thanks, guy, that's a great name, I may well use it! I appreciate the comments.
