Here is a gentleman's slip that I finished yesterday. Mike Sakmar mokume bolsters and bail. Craig Barr damascus. Presentation grade m.o.p. 6 1/8" o.a.l., 3 1/2" closed.

Lanza - that's a bale that I put on. I actually spelled bale wrong in my thread. It's the first time that I've made one and put one on a knife of mine and I wanted to give it a try.
 
Absolutely gorgeous, this is a probably a dumb question, but whatever, can you actually use a blade like that or what happens to it "wear/scuff" wise?
 
Sure you can use it. You would get wear depending on how it's used. Just using the cutting edge for small jobs would not result in much wear. If you're using it for heavier cutting then sure you'd get some wear. A little sanding, some sharpening, and a re-etch would take care of that though.
I guess some knives just call out to be used not matter what the cost (of course that would surely depend on how much money one has to burn)

Thats the kind of knife that you want to use when you trim up the high dollar cigars. Not much wear there. Great work
