Here's on that just left out to a customer, 7 1/2 oal with curl, mammoth ivory handle, forged random damascus blade and bolsters. There is sculpting at the handle butt and the front of the bolsters and a single flute at the rear of the bolsters. The customer wanted to use a couple of bear claws on the sheath, so there is one front and rear.

Man,that's the nicest version of a patch knife and sheath iv'e seen:D:thumbup:great work-Regards Butch

Thanks Butch. I should be hearing from the customer any mimute about this one and two more he recieved today. He can't wait very long once I finish, so he always has me overnight his packages.

A lot of makers have tried to emulate Daniel Winkler & Karen Shook's period knives & sheaths. Most fail by trying to simply make "rough" knives at the sake of fit, finish, and art. John's knives are not copies of Winklers but they are of that genre. He has developed a style of his own that works and he has resultingly found his niche in the knife world.

Cheers,

I really like the look of the knife, but I think I would like it better with more radius on the front edge of the bolster.

Always look forward to seeing your work , really well done knife you made there sir.

And that sheath is equally as nice !

That is a slick knife. The sheath is great too. I'd love to see a close up of the front of the sheath showing the quill work and that braiding. You do some fine work sir.

Thanks John and Shaun. I would be happy to take a close up shot, but this one resides in Ohio now. The braid at the bottom of the front flap is a strip of braided horsehair, and the band was quilled in red, white, and blue to match the colors of the beads.
