I'm really thinking about getting one of his folders. He design are really appealing to me, they're simple, elegant, and attractive. Anyone else have one? Does anyone actually carry theirs? I plan on carrying mine, if I get one. What do you think about it? And if you have pictures, post 'em if you got 'em.

Well, I did, traded it, wish I hadnt, his workmanship is just like his designs, very clean, you'll like it I think.

I have a few of Frank's knives in my collection. Years ago I use to carry (edc)
a nice stag handled little lockback made by Frank.
He makes great knives and is a true gentleman.
Good Collecting !

I have a side lock with abalone scales that I purchased from Frank Centofante at the 2002 Blade Show. I was amazed that his prices are still so reasonable. I also have to say that it was a real pleasure doing business with Mr. Centofante; as Jocko says, a true gentleman.

I had/have every intention that this knife would be a user; after all, I have other knives in the same price range that get carried on a regular basis. However, I just haven't found the right opportunity -- this is a knife that would be perfect for the sort of occasion that calls for a tux.

Sorry, no pictures.

I have an ironwood lockback and a black pearl tailock that is in the process of being engraved. The ironwood folder would be "carryable", but it lives in my gerstner. Centofantes are EXTREMELY reasonable for the quality of the work, and truely represent a classic maker. Unfortunately, with a few definite exceptions, his patterns are all very similar. I would hunt around for one at a reasonable price, because they do pop up every now and again at a bargain rate.

I've got a Centofante lockback with blue/tan Mammoth, that's got scroll engraving by Chris Meyer. Like the others have said, good clean work from a true gentleman.

I am fortunate to have 3 of Frank's lockbacks and a linerlock he made just the way I wanted it.

His filework is so precise and matched up and delicate, it is the example I wanted to follow on my own knives.

His fit and finish is fantastic....the handrubbed finish on his blades and bolsters where applicable is just perfect. Blades are perfectly centered and tapered. Action on the knives is crisp and clean as can be. When he dovetails his handles/bolsters the look is so crisp and clean it looks like the material is the same piece, just a change in texture and color.

IF you are going to carry one of Frank's folders, give him a call, discuss with him exactly what you want, listen to his suggestions.
Frank is as gracious a gentleman as he is a skilled knifemaker.
If you want to wait for the BLADE Show to pick up a folder from Frank, get to his table as the show opens. He should be sitting right as you walk in the door next to D'Holder. Frank either sells out or sells almost everything pretty quickly after the doors open.
I am sorry I don't have pictures to show you.

By the way, beware how close he gets to a microphone, you might just find out Frank is pretty good a croonin' one of Frank Sinatra's classics.......

This isnt mine, though I wish it was...

here are a couple of Franks pieces I have owned for over 20 years.

this is the FL 10 with Red Jigged Bone and engraved by Roland Robidoux, famed arms engraver.

The Fl 7 has the most incredible Black Lip Pearl I have ever encountered and is masterfully engraved in a very unique style by Lynton MacKenzie

I have, in the past, also had a liner lock and a couple of fixed blade knives by Frank as well as a mini folder.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I'm going to order one sometime this summer.

I used to have a beautiful gent's folder from this maker and regret having sold it (as usual  ). Very light and slim, with sheep horn handles and nickel silver bolsters.

I have a Centofante liner lock with damascus bolsters and mother of pearl overlays. His knives are great and you can't meet a nicer person!

Again, thanks for all of the pictures guys. For those of you who have handled both the tail lock and lockback versions of Frank's knives(or even just one or the other), which would you recommend?

I don't know that I could recommend one over the other. However, when I bought mine at Blade 2002, Frank had a selection of both side locks and lock backs on his table and I picked a side lock -- for whatever reason, it just felt like the right choice.
