Hi Safong. The FRN contains 33% fiberglass reinforcement.

Hi Ken, We can apply enough force. We can break a Stryder or a Busse in 15 seconds, and get a computer print out of the break with numbers and graphs.

sal

not to start a flame or anything, but i would have to say check your computer..

So who is expecting to hear about the Terror monkeys???

Edit: How in the freak did Sal get the busse folder before me???  :p

Well, so what? Before I retired I had general management responsibility for a materials testing lab that had a huge hydraulic tension machine. We could
break transmission line conductor the thickness of your wrist in a straight line pull. We could break 36 inch diameter steel reinforced concrete poles. I am sure that with the proper rigging we could have broken a Strider or a Busse with no problem at all, complete with computer readouts and graphs. What would that mean in the real world? Absolutely nothing.

I am sure Sal is telling the truth. He has industrial equipment built for just such purposes, so they can evaluate theirs and others products.

However, on the bright side, industrial equipment is what is required to break a Busse knife (or Cliff) :D

Interesting comment. The later posts make it seem like he is referring to folders.

Don't hink he'd have a Busse yet, nor even a Rat Trap.

Would like to hear from him to which Busse he is referring.

i would have to agree with ya Mike... Hey Jerry... Lemme prove him wrong ;)
I'll buy a Busse folder ;) and a Native and compare the two.. :D

For free too...

I'd love to see his charts and graphs. Being a scientist type, I get into all that sort of cool stuff... :D

Might have to go over and check it out!

You're such a giver :)

i guess i have to apoligize here guys.... see i made a really bad mistake and accidently sent a box of protos to sal.

really i didn't mean to do it... see, i was to put them up on the busse company store web site as a free give away to the first 100 orders taken, well i had some spydies that i had to send back cause the scales fell off most of them and i sent the shipping girl to do it.

well i should have known, she grabbed the wrong BOX ( most grils do that you know) and shipped all my folders to you know who

so that explains why we now have the new steel hearts instead of the folders for sale on our site.

sorry..... :(

Skunk,
You have one sick shipping girl... I'm assuming she has been hung up from the yard arm by now?

:D
:D

Firstly, like Mike and others have said, all it means is that he's got powerful, expensive equipment. I think that was his point, not that a Busse is weak. I didn't get any bad vibes from it.

I still say Cliff could take that machine any day.... if only he had a printout function ;)

I concur. Nothing for us to get our knickers in a knot over, even as ardent "Jerry-Krishnas".

I really just wanted to poke the sleeping hog 'cause I'm just like that. I thought that it was a kind of compliment that Sal Glesser would compare his product (Spyderco Native) to Busse. :)

I agree that Sal probably meant nothing bad about Busse knives. He seems like one of the few true stand-up guys from a bigger company. He seems to always be trying to improve his products, and I've never seen him say anything negative about another company. That's pretty rare in todays knife-hype machine (ummmm...Cold Steel, Dark-Ops, etc.).

Right on! Sal is a great guy who I visit with briefly at every Blade Show.

If stagnation can kill a company, Spyderco will never have any worries while Sal is steering the ship. He is an incredibly innovative guy and his thirst for knowledge keeps him on the cutting edge (pun intended) of value packed, performance bladeware. I have a Spyderco on my boat and it's an awesome little cutter!

Jerry
