This is the other (there were really only two) blog entry of Tom Blodgett's blog that I found very illuminating: here. Definitely worth a read! Lots of microscopic images of diamonds imbedded in metal and comparisons of the two manufacturing processes. Highly illuminating. I've never read this thorough and excellent a discussion comparing the two before. I think you'll find it worth your time.

Cheers,

Mag

I had always wondered what the differences were between DMT and Atoma.
Perhaps the clustering of diamonds on the Atoma will help clear away the abraded steel when sharpening?

As a DMT owner, my ego is happy to see that DMT is still a quality manufacturer. ;)
Thanks for the link, OP.

Very interesting. I have no idea which I'd rather go with. I like the concept and benefits cited for both!

Thanks for sharing. If nothing else it's helped confirm in my mind that I want that cheap little usb microscope. :)

That's an interesting link, Mag. Thanks for posting that; the pics are definitely illuminating.

Going to spend some quality time looking that over this evening.

You're a funny one Dave. It takes about 3 minutes to read through that and study the pics. Quality time?

That's why I like you. :)

When I'd posted that, I was getting ready for the imminent arrival of some company this afternoon, so even 3 minutes would've been too much. Thus the wording of my reply.

Even so, when reading many 'short' articles like that, I usually spend a good deal of time re-reading & thinking about the material presented, to give it ample opportunity to sink in to my (sometimes) thick head. :D

Funny. I was at work (on break) when I read the article, and left the comment. Then I spent a bunch of time thinking about article as I did my job. It didn't even occur to me until just now. :)
