A new Spalted Beech large 21 arrived yesterday and it looks great. The spalting fungi pattern on this particular knife is very impressive on all three pieces. I was surprised at how dense the beech feels even with the spalting (I am assuming it was stabilized). The Ladder Damascus is also a top pick with clean lines throughout the grind.

I love the spalted beech. I always find myself looking at these beautiful patterns.

Beautiful knife

Wow what a gorgeous knife! I did not know spalting was caused by fungi! Cool factoid :)

Simply beautiful

Sent via telegraph with the same fingers I use to sip whiskey.

This should be the poster child for spalted beech and ladder damascus! I was tempted to buy this one myself but would have preferred this combo be in a small.

Wow that is nice!! Really liking this inlay. It is right there with mammoth as a looker. A "poor man's mammoth" maybe!? I would be just as happy with this inlay!

Maybe it's blasphemy, but no Mammoth has ever looked this good. Once you get over the "ghee whiz" factor, a lot of the mammoth peices are actually pretty ugly, or at least don't match front to back etc. This here knife of Wavicles' is a true grail.

I feep coming back and looking at this one, I really like it. There's so much variance in the Beech from one knife to the next, this is one of the best. I grabbed a Mnandi not too long ago with a completely different look, I love this one too.

Now I'm looking at yours, thinking I need a second Beech!

That Mnandi is quite unique as well. The coolest feature is that you can readily see both sides came from adjacent locations on the stock. I look forward to seeing the new one you post!

You're in luck- they have that one in stock and the spalting is excellent!

Dang it! I have no money right now. :( I just bought a small mammoth and a large red linen Inkosi. Woe is me! :(:D

Here's to hoping they keep cranking out gorgeous spalted beech for a long time to come...
