Fantastic sheath from Blade Tech

I had some serious reservations of farming out a sheath for one of my knives. Up till this time I had made all of my own sheaths, leather and Kydex. After attempting to make a Kydex sheath for one of my new Model 10s, I gave up and decided to try out having one made for me.

I decided I wanted it to be made from carbon fiber concealex. So my choice was Blade Tech. I also wanted to see what all this fuss was over the TekLok so I had one installed. After getting the price quote (and coughing my tonge back up :D), I was starting to think it was a mistake. But in the end went through with it.

Well, I got it back from them on Monday .

This thing is unbelievable. First it makes my knife look 100% better. Not saying that anything was wrong with the knife, but now it "looks" complete. The fit is perfect, locks in nice and secure with no rattling, but does not rub on the blade. The one problem it had is that at the very top edge there was a ruff spot on the edge that tended to rub on your arm. A little sanding cleaned it right up.

This TekLok is HOT. Provides a perfect fit with no slop on most any size belt. The most amazing part is it can be mounted in (I kid you not, I counted them) over 80 ways!

I called Blade Tech just to let them know that I was totally pleased!

Purely cosmetic. Blade-tech even has concealex that looks like denim! Blade-tech does a great job. They are truly innovators in the industry.

Tim Wegner, BladeTech's head honcho, has been an inspiration and guide to many of today's sheathmakers and you can always count on quality products from BladeTech. Thanks, Tim.

If a sheath maker as great as Mike says another sheath maker is good then you can count on it.

So Ron, will the Blade Tech kydex sheath be an available option or will it become the standard sheath? The finished sheath looks nice.

It will be a standard option for custom orders. And will be standard on all my Micarta, carbon fiber, and G10 handled knives that are not made to order.

I may have to raise prices on a few models to make up for the cost of the sheaths, but I think that it is worth it. I also think that most customers will understand (I hope).

Neat thing about the carbon fiber pattern. Monday was my sixth wedding anniversery. Just for fun I carried the knife all day long. Even out with my wife that night (with her blessing of course). I wanted her to keep an eye out for the sheeple reaction. There was none. Seems that the pattern does a good job of breaking up the outline of the sheath. In that way it does not catch as many eyes from people not expecting to see a knife of that size. Since I wear alot of demin, I am going to have them make up one for my EDC (Model 3) in the demin pattern.

I'm not familiar with their sheath's, but I carry my "off duty" pistol and extra mags in one of there OWB rigs and mag holders. the quality and finish work is top shelf, and their customer Service is great.
