Have a question for any Fantoni HB01 (and maybe HB02) owners....
Are your thumbstuds a little loose/rotate when the blade is not fully opened or fully closed?
Once open or closed, they do not move because there are recesses in the scales that stop them but I was wondering if this is normal or if this is the start of wear/them breaking?
If any other owners can chime in and either confirm my worries or put my mind at ease, it would be appreciated.

Also, since this knife doesn't seam to have much US support, what are my options if the thumbstud breaks off? Can somebody replace/make new ones and if so, what would that cost? (approximately)

I wouldn't worry about it. Just enjoy the knife. You could contact Fantoni, they'd know better than anyone else. Replacing thumb studs can sometimes be done with off-the-shelf assemblies. I did that with a Sog of mine to give it left & right hand opening. Fantoni makes a great and durable product.

I could rotate by HB02 slightly but in no way loose or affect use. I love my Fantoni’s. I would love one in M4 though the S125V is cool.

There is zero movement on my HB02 thumbstuds after 4 years. It has not been my daily carry for the last couple years, but it has seen a fair amount of use, and a lot of idle opening and closing.

I don't own a ton of Fantonis, but every one I have touched has had outstanding fit and finish.

I had an HB03 I bought about 2 1/2 years ago here and subsequently sold. It was a well-made knife that I liked quite a bit and seemed like a cross between a Benchmade and a ZT to me. I had no issues with the thumb-studs that I can recall.

I got a PM from a member here asking if I might care to sell it, and, as it really didn't get much carry time, I obliged. I might well still have it had I not received that inquiry. The only disappointment with that knife was the so-called "finger guard" that really seemed like a failed attempt at a flipper tab. I got so I could flip the knife with no wrist, but that feature always annoyed me.

Yeah, I've read that it's not meant to be a flipper and the huge blade on mine (HB-01) will not flip w/o some wrist action but it is doable with some wrist.
It seems like a well made knife and it's pretty light with the TI liners and pocket clip considering the size.
This one was given to me by my father and I had never heard of Fantoni before it was gifted to me so I'm just trying to learn more about them and was wondering if the thumb stud rotation was normal or not.

My reaction, without knowing more than what you told us, is that if the thumb stud can be tightened or is still functional and the rest of the knife is good, then it is maybe not a big deal? I really like the quality and ergos on mine. I knew it was not a flipper and I bought it because of that - I don't like flipper-only knives and avoid them. It has solid lock-up, cuts well, carries reasonably well and is not as heavy as my ZTs.

Oh, I'm liking it a lot the thumb stud play doesn't mess with the function, it's just worrisome.
I'll continue to use it and if it breaks off, then I'll look into getting it repaired.
I'm sure one of the knifemakers on this board can whip me up a new one when the time comes.

Thanks to all who answered my question .
