Hello All,
When I first started looking at buying a Sebenza I went to the Chris Reeve Forum and asked a question and was directed to a thread that had been started to cover many of the common Frequently Asked Questions of a newbie.
I think it would be great to have a similar "key" thread on the Busse Forum. I think it would be great to have a list of questions that we often hear asked with the answers already to go so we can just point to that thread when needed. So here is the deal. I will be more than happy to research the answers as much as I can but I need some FAQ's. Also if you know where the answers can be easily located on an old thread please post the link. I will then try to get all the info together and start another thread so that we can all reference it later. Does this sound like a good idea? If so, sound off and start asking questions and if possible supply answers. Along with Ryu's photo album I think this would be a great way to support the Busse line.

Here are a few questions, just off the top of my head. I will search/answer them later. I don't have time for a long search right now but wanted to see what others thought and get this thread going.
1)What's the difference between the Basic and Combat line?
2) Why can't I find the Battle Mistress in the Basic line-up, is it the #9
3) Where can I buy the Combat Line?
4) Does Busse have a website?
5)What is INFI and Mod-INFI?
6)What is Respirene(sp) C?
7) What about cold weather use?
8) How do I sharpen this Knife?
9) What about the warranty? Does the company stand behind it.
10) What kind of sheath comes with the knife?

Like I said, sound off if you think this is a good idea. Also I know some of these questions have been answered numerous times here(and I'm really not looking for you to answer them) but these are just some I think should be included in a FAQ thread.

Great idea! A couple other questions I've seen pop up from time to time:

1) What does (SH/BM/NO/BA/MS/etc.) mean?
2) What does the -E or -SH after a name mean?
3) What is a Busse 'Apprentice' knife?

What's the cheap tastless beer that superb knifemakers in Ohio drink?

Great idea!

There's really not much known about Busse knives to your basic knife user. They are sort of "exclusive" in that there isn't much info in one place about them. It takes a LOT of research to understand them and know a lot about them. This "exclusiveness", or difficulty in learning about Busse knives, may turn away some Bladeforums members from buying a Busse. This should change that.

I suggest the following questions:

1.) What is an "a-symmetrical edge".

2.) What is a "variant".

3.) What is the "talon hole" for? (I think the talon holes was for some sort of after-market product or something, but I'm not sure myself!)

4.) Where can I find reviews of Busse knives?

5.) Which knives are currently in production, and which have been discontinued?

6.) Is INFI a stainless or not?

7.) Why aren't there any Busse logos visible on Busse knives?

8.) What's the difference between a regular Mean Street, a Desert Warfare Mean Street, and a Lean Mean Street?

9.) Where can I get an after-market kydex or leather sheath for my Busse?

10.) Are the Combat line available in a satin finish?

11.) What kind of coating do Busse blades recieve?

12.) How can I get a Busse custom made to my likings?

13.) What are the specifications for the knives in the Busse line?

14.) Does Busse manufacture knives for the military?

BTW, as you may have observed, several of these "FAQ's" are not really FREQUENTLY asked, but would be good info for a newbie to learn.

Also, for simple questions, I think that a link to another thread is unnecessary. This would save a lot of time and effort, IMO.

We could put a link to the FAQ right under the forum name in big letters. It would get great exposure there. In fact, I think the rest of the makers/manufacturers forums should do this, as it would greatly help newbies (I'm a newbie on many of the forums) learn, and save time in answering questions over and over.

Andrew,
Great questions, those are going to keep me busy for a while. I agree that most of the simple questions will be able to be answered without a link. I mainly wanted links so that I could read up on the info in order to give the best answers I could.

How to keep from messing yourself upon receipt of your new Busse?

Who is "Bubba" and why do I not want to get on his bad side?

Great idea BTW

Hey Strabs,
Do you have an answer for that first one of yours, I haven't figured it out yet. LOL

Any other suggestions for questions? Also there were some reviews floating around the web somewhere does anyone know where they are. I can't seem to find them now.
Thanks
Eric

Why are Busses so expensive?
Why are they worth it?
What can this Busse do that my cheaper knife can't?
What is INFI?
If the best knives out there are made of INFI, how does M-INFI compare to other knives/steels?
Where can I buy Busse knives?
Where's the folder?
