Just tried out the Farm Knife (aka Farmcata) in the kitchen . .

It sliced super thin slices off the onion easy as can be.

The cut of these onions is not the result of 'chopping', but simply thin slices . . . . I did chop more after this and it did a great job.

The knife did not feel over-sized for the task. Very controllable and easy to use.

The slightly slimmer profile on this one looks like it would really excel in the kitchen:)

I have used my regular version a couple of times, and it really worked. However, for smaller things it's a bit overkill:p

I have not seen this Farmcata before. Was it a special order? BTW what are the specs (length, blade thinness, weight, etc. )?

The thing that really impresses me about mine is just what this thread demonstrates, what fine slicer they are for a big chopper!

Yeah, i figured out that these big boys are indeed fine slicers the first moment of it's arrival. It's peeled the skin on my finger as I was wiping the oil off of it:eek: I didn't bleed, but any deeper and it would have been gusher:D You don't see such a fine edge on knives of this size and weight very often. It truly is a versatile chopper/slicer/tool/weapon.

I've started to leave mine wedged between my passenger seat and my console with the handle straight up. It's just too handy not to have quick access:)

Hopefully it's secure in a sheath. It would make quite a quisinart in a rollover or other accident.

Agreed. Hard to beat for the $$!

The "farmcata" looks like it would be the perfect blade for processing the vegetables and meat for a jumbo stew.
If I can score one by the fall it will be my go to knife for squash, cabbage, and other root veggies.
It would be the best for preparing a boiled dinner.

Great review + good photo's.

If the style you purchased becomes a regular offering, I'll certainly be after one too. ;)
