Just ordered this Farmer Jack by GEC. Had to delete (white out) the dealer as dealer advertising is not allowed here. Do a little searching and you'll be able to figure out where to get them.

I saw that. Looks pretty nice. Thought about ordering one, but can't justify it. Im interested to hear how it is!

It looks like steel pins and lanyard tube :)

Getting a lot more with this knife (ringed bolsters, long pull, swedged blade, and jigged bone handles) than with the Bull Nose Work Knife and only for 10-bucks more. For me, it's easy to justify.

I'd of ordered two but I'm gonna wait to see if it's offered with another handle material -- maybe burnt stag, etc.. If not, I'll order a second one of these. The spey blade on this knife is a great choice by the dealer.

Edit: Looking at the picture, it looks like a match-strike long pull. If it is, that's another plus.

No, its not due to the Bull Nose. Its because I have WAY to many 73's.

I told myself until a single spear model with a longpull comes out I'm just not buying. I bought way too many 73's becuase I'm a sucker for stag.

Hope you like it :)

Pretty sweet looking knife Ed. Congrats!! Looking forward to pics when you get it.

+1
This is exactly what I said when I saw the GEC Soddie

I have to tell you, the two GEC I ordered with all steel construction have impressed the heck out of me.

The sunfish with brown jigged bone, and the stag barlow are so stinking solid and nice.

This one has the long pull and match strike long pull to boot, two bonuses in my book. For some reason, I find my self using the Spey blade a lot more than I do the clip on my two bladed 23's and 73's. Probably because I keep that edge more stout, and it is much less likely to poke my hands when slicing up fruit and veggies for the kids snack time (I have poked me self a few good ones with the really pointy clip!).

From the name, I was expecting a different pattern (see quote and photo below). Is the match strike long pull new for GEC? I don't remember seeing it on any of their other knives. I look forward to your review.

Haha Mike! That really would make a sweet picture. Im envisioning the possibilities now. Blood red fading in and out :-p

Unfortunately I am going to be away from my collection for a while now. I also remembered I have a Black Plum with the matchstrike.

Sounds like a fun idea when I get back to my collection though :)

Thats a nice knife, but I gotta wonder if this is a test for the Bull Nose?
I've always liked the #73, the frame is great and it's a medium knife that does a big knife job. But, I honestly don't like the spey blade that GEC uses, it seems to thick at the tip to be a good cutter.
here is a #73 compared to #71.

Well Ed, that one looks pretty nice. I´m thinking about getting my first GEC. They´re pretty expensive, so I think about getting a single-balded first. Which are a little cheaper than the other one. Nice bone. Seems to be a great working knife!

Kind regards
Andi

I have the match striker pull on this single blade Pioneer linerlock in primitive bone.
