I've searched through a lot of threads and there is a lot of love for the Farmer. Outside of the tools they come with, what are the differences between the Farmer, Trekker without the partially serrated blade, and the Fieldmaster for camp use? Is it mainly preference and ease of use?

Few of the main difference between those tools are sizes and handle:

Farmer is a 93mm tool, with a little longer and beefier blade than the traditional 91mm SAK tool, and its handle is made of aluminium.

Fieldmaster is a 91mm tool, and it has the plastic handle.

Trekker non-serrated is a 111mm tool, and it also has a plastic handle. Some of the tools on this model is lockable, such as the main blade and the large flat head/bottle opener.

I think all of them are really good choices for outdoor use. If size is not a concern, then I would recommend the 111mm NS Trekker, since it has very relevant tools for outdoor use, and it's certainly one of my favorite folding knife/tool to take with.

Farmer and Fieldmaster are both nice, both are great for urban carry and especially good if you have the need to travel internationally(non-locking blade/sub 3" blade).

I'm glad you said that because I'm leaning towards the NS Trekker. I like that it would lock into place.

I have had and used all three. I still have two Fieldmasters, the Trekker and Farmer were traded away. The larger saw and larger locking blade on the Trekker were nice sometimes but because of its size it wasn't easy for me to edc. Plus no scissors, which for me is a huge minus for a sak.
The Farmer is more bomb proof than the Fieldmaster however my Fieldmasters have easily done everything I have asked them to do and when used properly are very capable tools. The Farmer has a superior awl, not that I use one often, but the Fieldmasters works ok to. No tweezers or pick on the Farmer and again no scissors. The Farmer is the most pocketable of the three tho.

Depends on what you want it for. I can't swing daily pocket carry of a 111mm knife so I carry the Farmer daily.

The trekker would make a great sheath knife in the woods as a backup to a fixed blade.

OK, I now own a Fieldmaster and a Trekker NS :) I appreciate the help.

While I'm on a multi-tool roll, I should I add a Rebar to go with them? I own a Sidekick, but think the Rebar may be worth getting as well.

I gave up on pliar based multi tools and started carrying a medium sized slip-joint pliers along with my sak. I am much happier with this set up myself.

Thank you for the reply. I think for the outdoors that is a better idea.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to help me!
